Whitsunday Fishing Charters went under new ownership in March This Year,

Charles Vears & Rach From Darwin & Business partners Lee & Mel Shaw from Airlie Took over the business March 15th both great friends for many many years and with a lot of experience across many industries.

Charlesy & Rach own Yknot Fishing Charters Up in Darwin and have always wanted to be apart of the Whitsunday Tourism industry since they where a finalist in the Australian tourism awards when Charlesy seen just how amazing and close the Whitsunday companies where.

With that being said in May 2024 something happened to another fellow Operator in Airlie when a boat explosion caused Airlie Beach Fishing Charters to loose there boat to some bad luck you would never wish upon anyone. Charlesy knows all to well how quick you can go backwards when not being able to operate as well as all the cancellations and refunds to follow. So together Charlesy Lee & Mel reached out to the owners of Airlie beach fishing charters to offer there support and to start a great relationship off on the right Foot in the last three months WFC have taken out hundreds of guest that would have had there trip cancelled otherwise and also been able to help Airlie beach fishing charters not loose everything as a heavily discounted rate was offered to them so they could still keep the doors open and be able to return to doing what they do best and that's catch fish.

Moral of the story it takes nothing to offer help and support to those in your industry especially. We don't look at other operators as competition we look at them as partners who share the same goal and vision to share the beautiful whitsundays with as many people from far and wide as we can and educate them all so they tell there friends and family and return again and again πŸ˜πŸ˜€

We look forward to seeing Matt, Trish and the Team at Airlie Beach fishing charters back on the water in the coming months and wish them all a speedy recovery and many safe days on the water ahead.

🎡 Who are we?🎡

We formed in London in 1967, and our name came from a mix of the drummer's and bass players' names, as the lead guitarist wanted to keep himself out of the spotlight.

Beforehand, our drummer was a window cleaner, and the bass player was training to be a tax inspector. Our drummer has also kept toilet chains as a momento since 1965 and wears them on stage hanging from his belt for good luck.

In 1970, we were joined by a keyboardist who later married the bass player. Then, due to band members leaving, on New Year's Eve in 1974, we asked a lead guitarist to join, but he stated he and his girlfriend were a package deal, so both were invited. So began our "classic" line-up. We released our first album together in 1975, and it gave us immediate chart success, but the album from 1977, which was born out of the inner turbulence happening within the band, became the 6th biggest-selling album of all time, earning us a Grammy in 1978.

We have never appeared altogether on any of our studio album covers, having only one or two members photographed.

Although there have been 18 members through our band's doors, the classic line-up from 1974 to 1987 is the most recognised, and in 1998, we were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

πŸ›©οΈ Jefferson Airplane was formed in San Francisco in 1965, but by 1967, its lead singer had left the band to have her first baby. Enter Grace Slick. She brought some songs with her from her old band, Great Society, and these became their first two major hits.

By the summer of 1967, they were performing at the Monterey Pop Festival. In 1968, they played at the Isle of Wight Festival, and to cap it off, they played at Woodstock in 1969.

🐰 The American censors didn't pick up on the meaning of their hit "White Rabbit" in 1967, but the English censors were more savvy, and the song was dropped from the album release there. Many have called it the defining song from the "Summer of Love", where people got to "Free their Heads". 🐰

Jefferson Airplane has evolved through several incarnations over the years, including Jefferson Starship and later simply Starship. However, the original Jefferson Airplane was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. πŸ›©οΈ

Jack Johnson was born in 1975 and started playing guitar when he was 8. His father and brothers were keen surfers, and Jack joined them at age 5.

He became one of the youngest people to be invited to the finals of the Pipeline Masters in Hawaii at the age of 17. However, a week later, he suffered a heavy fall, and his head required over 100 stitches, as well as losing some teeth. Jack never competitively surfed again but instead took a more relaxed attitude towards it.

He's directed surfing movies and starred as a surfer in 1994's Endless Summer 2. When asked if he would rather have a surfboard or a guitar on a deserted island, he said he definitely wanted the surfboard because, for me, the guitar was something I played when the ocean was calm. (There must have been a lot of flat days in Hawaii).

He's environmentally conscious and has even built his own solar-powered studio. In 2008, he gave 100% of all profits from his World Tour to Environmental, Art, and Music Education.

Who Am I?

I was born in Iceland in 1965, and after my parents divorced, my mother and I moved to a commune.

As a child, I Studied classical piano and flute. During a school recital in 1976, I sang Tina Charles's song "I Love to Love" on the National Radio Broadcaster. After hearing me sing, a record producer contacted me and offered me a contract. A year later, at the age of 11, I released my first recording.

During my teen years, I joined various bands with different styles, including jazz fusion, punk, and gothic rock. But my biggest band success was with a group called The Sugarcubes.

In the 1980s, I secured the odd film role and mainly sang backup vocals for various artists. In 1993, after a move to London and securing the producer for the band Massive Attack, I released my first real single and achieved international acclaim. More albums followed, and not all to fanfare.

In 2002, one of my singles was banned from MTV for being too controversial, and my swan dress once caused a stir at the Oscars. I have released ten albums in all.

The Foo Fighters formed after the demise of Nirvana following Kurt Cobain's passing.

Dave Grohl (Guitarist/Vocalist) called them the Foo Fighters after the UFOs that used to tail English Aircraft on their bombing missions during the Second World War. Dave's Record Label is Roswell Music. So yes, even though he's never seen a UFO, he has a high interest in them.

Their first drummer once said he was playing so hard to try and keep up with Dave that one of his drumsticks snapped and lodged into his face. Taylor Hawkins joined the group on drums after a stint with Alanis Morissette, who said she was unfortunate to lose him, but she knew Taylor would one day achieve greatness, and he did.

The Foo Fighters have won 15 Grammys and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. A year before Taylor's passing.

Talking Head's first gig was in June 1975, opening for the Ramones.

David Byrne (Singer/Guitarist) and Chris Frantz (Drums) first met in design school and played together in a band they called the "Artistics".

Tina Weymouth (Bass Guitarist) was Chris's girlfriend, and she initially owned a van where she would take their equipment to the various gigs they were performing. Chris encouraged Tina to take up bass and played a lot of Suzi Quatro to spur her on. Tina eventually auditioned for the band, and it took 3 of these before she was asked to join.

In 1977 Jerry Harrison (Keyboards) joined the band to round off the sound.

Talking Heads were ranked 100th in Rolling Stone's Top 100 Bands of All Time and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Who are we?

We formed in 1966 and got our name from a religious suggestion by our then-manager. We were initially known for our outrageous outfits and psychedelic music.

Although we started off as a five-piece band, our lead singer left in 1975, and we became a quartet, with our drummer taking over lead vocals simply because we couldn't find a better singer.

In 1978, our guitarist left the band, reducing our members to three. This trio formation became our most successful as we took our music in a new direction.

In 1986, we had our first American No. 1, which was bumped the very next week by our old lead singer. We each released solo albums during our careers, which helped our longevity. We played our last concert on 26th March 2022.

A year earlier, we sold our music and publishing rights to all songs from 1978 onwards for $300 million.

Billy Joel started playing piano at the age of 4 under his mother's insistence. But during his teenage years, he became a boxer, entering 24 matches with 22 wins. But it wasn't just his fists he used. By this time, he had also become a classically trained pianist, and at age 16, he was playing on The Shangri-Las hit "Leader of the Pack."

He decided to quit school at age 17 to pursue a musical career and started playing in piano bars. He also went to Woodstock, but left after a day and a half because "There just wasn't anywhere to go to the toilet!"

When the time came for his debut album, a production mistake led to the album being recorded too fast, and Billy sounded like a chipmunk. He took his copy into the street and smashed it on the road.

It took until 1983 when production techniques made it possible for a new release.

In January 2014, Billy announced a residency at Madison Square Garden, where he would perform one concert a month. That residency finishes in July this year.

Born one of six children, Roland LaVoie started his musical career at 17. After playing in several bands, he decided to pursue a solo career and began calling himself by the alias "Lobo," which was the Spanish name for "Wolf."

He released his debut album in May 1971 and another album a year later, in 1972, where he scored international success with the hit single "I'd Love You to Want Me." The song was about a teacher in his school that he knew he could never have.

By the end of the 1970s, Lobo's chart success had dwindled in the US, but Asia was still discovering him. He toured there frequently and even produced an album in Taiwan.

Lobo still tours today, with concerts announced for this year and next year.

Who are we?

We Formed in Auckland in 1972 but then relocated to Sydney in 1975, where we secured a residency at the Bondi Lifesaving Club.

Unfortunately, only a year later, our drummer died from a drug overdose, and it almost broke the band apart. Our producer in New Zealand sent over a keyboardist who wrote most of our songs and introduced us to a new drummer who gelled with us immediately, and we were back on track.

The hits started coming, and soon we were a regular on "Countdown", with our lead singer even hosting the show. But his hedonistic Rock n Roll lifestyle soon got him into trouble. Primarily when we toured the US, and he called an audience in Texas a "Bunch of Faggots". The stage was littered with bottles, and the band retired to the safety of the changing room. The rest of the tour was called off due to bad publicity.

In 1979, our lead singer's alcohol and drug problem had become too great, and for his well-being, he was sacked by his brother, our bass player.

By 1982, he had regained his health, and we reformed, mostly to pay off debts. The hits started coming again. At the beginning of 1998, it was discovered that our lead singer had cancer, and Renee Geyer put on a concert called "Night of the Hunter," with people like John Farnham, Renee, Tex Perkins, and James Reyne all performing our songs. At the age of just 44, our lead singer passed away later that year.

We reformed in the 2000s with a new lead singer and have played live at the Airlie Beach Music Festival twice.

Judas Priest was formed in 1969 in Birmingham. They got their name from a 1967 Bob Dylan song and even rehearsed at his home for a time.

"British Steel" was released in 1980 and cemented the band's position as "Metal Gods" in the music world.

By the early 1990s, Rob Halford decided to leave the band, and a Judas Priest Tribute Band Frontman soon replaced him (this sounds a bit like the 2001 film Rock Star). But by early 2003, Rob Halford returned, much to the delight of his fans.

In 2014, they released their biggest-selling album, "Redeemer of Souls", which ranked them highest on the US Album Charts.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Chain formed in Perth in the late 1960s. After winning the "Battle of the Sounds" in Perth, they made their way to Melbourne for the National Finals.

Returning to Perth after the finals, the band soon found they missed the Melbourne nightlife and relocated back to start playing gigs.

They released an album, "Back to the Blues", in January 1971, and it became a constant seller, eventually taking more than a decade to go "Gold". But inside troubles caused the band to split in 1974, taking a hiatus until 1982 for a one-off concert and then re-forming in 1983.

During their hiatus, Matt Taylor joined a commune for a couple of years, and it was here, after fasting for two weeks on nothing but water, that "I Remember When I Was Young" was born. The song was eventually recorded in the middle of a paddock.

Many changes occurred over the years, with over 30 band members coming and going, but the four prominent members have been Matt Taylor, Phil Manning, Barry Harvey and Kirk Du Bois on bass since 1991.

Who are we?

We formed in 1973 after several name changes, but when the second of two sisters joined the band, we completed our formative lineup.

We moved to Canada from the US to avoid some band members being drafted into the Vietnam War. Our first album was released in 1976.

Our lead singer had a stuttering problem at school, but after speech therapy, she found that if she sang, it went away. She also talked about sending KFC one of our platinum records because if they hadn't sacked her, she probably wouldn't have joined the band.

We had several lineup changes at the end of the 1970s after several chart hits, but we came back in the 1980s with several albums, including one from 1995, when John Paul Jones, the bass player from Led Zeppelin, produced our new live album on the pretence we didn't do any Zep covers, which we are renowned for.

Our two sisters also bought a studio where bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden would later record.

The Small Faces name came about because they were all relatively short, and "faces" was a mod term for a trendsetter.

Between Steve Marriott, the lead singer, and Ronnie Lane, the bass player, the hits kept coming. Songs like Itchycoo Park and Tin Soldiers charted well, especially in Australia, where Tin Soldiers hit number 3 on the Australian charts.

Regardless, they were all still sharing a group house because Decca stated they could not afford the royalties. Decca finally paid the royalties in 1991, the same year Steve Marriott died in a house fire.

They changed their name to the "Faces" in 1969 after Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood, who were taller than 5'6, joined the band, and a new chapter began.

Queen was formed from the ashes of the psychedelic band "Smile" in 1971. The crest symbol they used for the band was a drawing from Freddie Mercury depicting their astrological signs.

They toured the US and Australia in 1971 but were unfortunately booed off stage at the Sunbury Festival. Before leaving, Freddie yelled to the audience, "The next time you see us, we will be the biggest band in the world."

Before joining Queen, Freddie was a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport.

Brian Mays' guitar was made from a 200-year-old mantelpiece by him and his father. Brian calls it the "Red Special," and when they were touring, the guitar had its own bodyguard.

John Deacon was an electrical engineer who, in the early days, made much of the band's electrical equipment, including the famous Deacy Amp.

Although a member of "Smile", Roger Taylor was asked to join Genesis before Phil Collins was employed, but he knocked them back.

Ultimately, grouping these four individuals was simply a "Kind of Magic".

**REMINDER NEW START TIME OF 3PM TOMORROW**

Who am I?

I was born in Ohio in 1964 into a poor black neighbourhood. When I was only 4, my parents divorced, and I moved to Cleveland with my mother and sister.

My mother bought me a ukulele when I was just 3, but I soon moved to learning the clarinet before settling on the guitar at age 8.

After receiving racial abuse, I soon realised education was my only way out of poverty and eventually won a grant to attend university, where I majored in Anthropology. I started busking and playing for the radio station at this uni.

My debut album was released in 1988 after a friend's father introduced me to his friend who worked at Electra Records.

I attended Nelson Mandela's 70th birthday tribute at Wembley that same year, and after Stevie Wonder pulled out due to technical difficulties, I was asked to perform at the "Prime Time."

Despite my album getting little airplay before, straight after this concert, I sold a million albums in a week.

I studied the didgeridoo at Alice Springs, even though some communities frowned upon women playing this instrument.

I have released 8 studio albums, and in 2023, Luke Combs released a country version of my debut single, which went to number 1 on the Country Charts, reviving interest in me.

Who Are We?

We formed our Band in 1968 in Birmingham, England. Our original name was "Earth", but we soon decided to change that after writing one of the songs on our debut album. We came up with our name from a Boris Karloff horror film from 1963. The debut album cost us $1200 and took two days to make. The first day was a 12-hour stint with many songs done in 1 take. The second day, we were mixing.

Our Lead Guitarist left us to play with Jethro Tull but soon returned to the fold. He suffered a terrible accident at work when he was just 17 when some sheet metal severed the tips of the middle fingers on his Fret hand. Special tips were made from plastic and leather so he could continue playing without pain.

We have had several Lead singers, but our original is the most famous, having had his own reality TV Show.

The first song on our debut album started with a church bell and thunder, and the last song on our last album finished the same way.

Donna Summer: The Queen of Disco was born in Boston as Donna Gaines.

Her first big break came when she was selected for the play "Hair" in Germany. She left home and, as she has said, "to begin my life." Donna ended up staying for a few years to perform in other musicals and became proficient in German.

Upon returning to the US, she became a backup singer for 3 Dog Night, where she was noticed by some record producers and was offered a contract. Her single Love to Love Ya Baby ended up being banned from different radio stations because it was deemed "controversial".

Donna Summer passed in 2012 at the age of 63.

Stevie Wonder was born premature, and so had to be incubated. The oxygen feed eventually made the blood vessels in his eyes worsen and detached from his retinas, causing him to go blind.

He is the youngest person to have a number one on the Billboard Top 100 at the age of 13, and that record still hasn't been beaten.

When travelling as a passenger in a car in 1973, an accident with a logging truck occurred, and Wonder was hit in the head by a Log. He was in a coma for ten days, and when he regained consciousness, he lost the senses of taste and smell for a short while.

When recording "We Are the World," he threatened (jokingly) that if it wasn't done in one take, he would drive everybody home. It was done in one take.

He's also played harmonica on 2015 albums for numerous Artists.

Guess Who?

I am a 5'3" Female Artist who was born in 1958. Although I spent some time in Australia as a child, I grew up on a farm in the South East London suburb of East Wickham.

After initially playing the fiddle, I stopped learning it and instead taught myself to play the piano at the age of 11. David Gilmore, from Pink Floyd, was a friend of my brother's, and he introduced me to him. At the age of 15, David helped produce a demo tape and insisted that EMI sign me. They did.

In 1978, I released my first single inspired by an Emily Bronte novel and became the first woman in history to write and perform their own number 1 song on the British Charts.

On my first album, I used the musicians from Pilot and Cockney Rebel. I was also the first singer to perform with professional dancers using a headset, which literally changed how singers performed in the future.
