I’m enjoying the recent Biopic of the famous outlaw and gunfighter of the American Old West, Billy the Kid. But what fascinates me more is the two only known photos of young William. Whilst one is an expected portrait of a gunslinger at the time. The other portrays a renaissance man who, when not fighting range wars and other gunslinger pursuits, obviously also enjoyed his downtime unwinding on the croquet courts.

It was a Francophiles dream last night as the Normans of the Duchy of Dougalainia took on the Knights of Gee Butts. The first three turns were under the fog so no one could charge or shoot over a medium range. Both Norman armies jockeyed for a position in which to launch thier cavalry once the fog was lifted. Meanwhile my Infantry spearman thinned down the ranks of one the twin Archer units Gee had brought along.
His archers were plucky though and ran out to harass the Dougalainian Heath Gaurd and nabbed a couple of scalps.
With the fog lifted, it was Normans back to normal. After some lucky volley fire the Dougalainian archers soon peppered the enemy crossbowmen. Two massed teams of Cavalry met and the dice decided it was to be the Dougalainian day. It was down hill after that I’m afraid for the men of George.
His warlord, was denied a valiant last charge through fatigue and his helmet is now the ceremonial colander at the Crossbowmen Mess in Dougalainia.
Thanks George for a cracking game.
