Ever wondered how long your social media posts and blogs last?

We invest a lot of energy into creating content, so it is nice to know how long others can find our posts from when we post them to the platform.

Platforms like TikTok and X have shorter life spans as more content is posted frequently. Posting multiple times daily on these platforms will help your content be seen.

Pinterest is an often-overlooked platform. It is excellent for physical products and services that have a visual aspect. I personally have created many travel boards or birthday party ideas boards on Pinterest, which I can refer to later.

1. Is the conversation relevant to your brand or industry?
2. Do your comments add value? If not, move on, scroll on
3. How long ago was the conversation posted? As a rule of thumb, comment within 24 hours of the original post. Joining the conversation in the first one to two hours to get the most love.

If marketing strategies are like cake, social media is like the egg that binds it together.

Social media is often a small business ownerโ€™s first port of call for marketing (and I canโ€™t help but agree!). However, like an egg in a cake, it will only really make things rise if mixed the right way. I like to combine social media marketing with a variety of other approaches, including a good website, email marketing list, and in-person networking. The trick is to tie it all together the right way.

Recently, I have been re-watching the original Beverly Hills 90210. In one episode, I noticed the advice given to Brenda and the crew while they studied for their SATs. The same can be said about how we gather information about social media accounts we want to follow.

1. Scan your feed for information relevant to your interests, humour and values.

2. Discard anything that doesn't connect with your values

3. Select - Like, comment, share and follow with the accounts you align with. Be active with these accounts so more of them appear in your feed.

4. Move on - Unfollow any accounts that no longer give value to you.

We are excited to announce our third Women in Business evening will be held on Tuesday, 15 October 2024 at Mona Farm.

The evening is open to women members of the BAVBC and women employees of member businesses. It is a great way to get to know some of the other brilliant women in our district, to collaborate and network ... and just have a bit of fun! Mona is providing a delicious meal for $25 a head and we have a special guest speaker for the evening โ€“ social media expert, Susie Basiaco of The Social Nest.

Susie has been 'doing social media' for almost a decade. Before she started The Social Nest, she ran an e-commerce business for six years where she learned about social-media marketing. In 2021 she made the change to study social-media marketing and started up The Social Nest, a social-media marketing agency that helps clients create and implement social-media marketing strategies. These strategies help clients to identify their target audience, what platforms they use, and what type of content to post for each of the buyer stages. She also assists time-poor businesses in developing monthly content calendars and scheduling social media content on their behalf.

Mona Farm will be cooking free-range chicken over local timbers on their rotisserie spit, served with fresh salads, soft white rolls and condiments. Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar on the evening, including beer, wine and soft drinks (no BYO).

Do you love to send things you see on Instagram via a DM to someone close to you?

For me, it's funny videos of Golden Retrievers or Pandas that I share with my family and friends.

Recently, Adam Mosseri said that Instagram is making "views" the primary metric across all content formats, including reels, stories, and photos. A view differs from reach as it accounts for multiple views by the same user. While views will become the primary metric, he also emphasised the importance of monitoring "sends per reach" for a comprehensive understanding of content performance.
