Looking for tips to help improve your social media in 2025?

Here are a few to get you started:

1. Embrace User-Generated Content: Encourage your audience to share their experiences with your product or service. Highlight these real-life stories to build trust and create a community around your brand. User content offers authenticity that polished campaigns might lack.

2. Pair Ads with Organic Content: While ad campaigns can boost visibility, maintain a balance with quality organic content. This combination ensures sustained engagement and solidifies brand presence across social platforms.

3. Plan your social media: Start each year with a plan that builds on the previous year's insights. Analyse past performance and anticipate industry trends to craft a strategic roadmap.

4. Content Marketing is King: Regularly publish valuable content to keep your audience informed and engaged. A consistent content strategy positions your brand as a leader in your industry.

5. Use AI Wisely: Leverage AI to automate repetitive tasks and analyse data. This lets you focus on higher-value activities like creative development and personal engagement.

6. Recycle Content: Repurpose content across platforms to maximize your efforts. A video can become a series of images or quotes; a blog post can inspire multiple tweets.

7. Enrich the Customer Journey: Every interaction on social media should add value. Whether informative, entertaining, or inspiring, make each touchpoint meaningful.

8. Plan with a Content Planner: Use planning tools to map out content in advance. This ensures a consistent flow and reduces stress during busy periods.

Today I am a level 46 human. Here are 46 social media tips that I have learned along the way.

1. Embrace User-Generated Content: Encourage your audience to share their experiences with your product or service. Highlight these real-life stories to build trust and create a community around your brand. User content offers authenticity that polished campaigns might lack.

3. Organic Reach on Facebook: Enhance your Facebook strategy by engaging organically with your audience. Use compelling visuals, storytelling, and interactive posts. Encourage shares and comments to expand your reach without relying on advertising.

4. Collaborate for Success: Partner with influencers and brands that align with your values. Joint campaigns can introduce you to new audiences and elevate your brand's image. Choose partners wisely to maintain authenticity and credibility.

5. Pair Ads with Organic Content: While ad campaigns can boost visibility, maintain a balance with quality organic content. This combination ensures sustained engagement and solidifies brand presence across social platforms.

6. Authenticity Over Trends: Stay true to your brand's core message, even when following trends. Authenticity resonates more deeply with audiences and fosters long-lasting relationships.
7. DIY Your Social Media Strategy: Set specific, measurable goals for your social media initiatives. Define your target audience and tailor content to their interests. Consistent strategy development and monitoring align efforts with business objectives.

8. Extend Reach for Free: Use SEO techniques, engage with your community, and leverage popular social media features like hashtags and stories to expand your reach without financial investment.
9. Curate Content: Share articles, posts, and insights relevant to your audience. Add your perspective to curated content to engage followers and establish your expertise in the field.

10. Plan your social media: Start each year with a plan that builds on the previous year's insights. Analyse past performance and anticipate industry trends to craft a strategic roadmap.

12. Optimise Your Bio: Focus on your social media bio, ensuring it clearly conveys your brand, mission, and call to action. Keywords can enhance discoverability and first impressions.

13. Drive Traffic to Your Blog: Use social media to funnel traffic to your blog or website, which serves as the anchor of your online presence. Include links in posts and bio sections to direct followers there.

14. Define Your Customer Avatar: Create detailed representations of your ideal customers to guide marketing strategies and content creation. Understanding their needs and behaviours improves engagement.

17. Social media tools: Use tools like scheduling software, analytics platforms, and design software to streamline processes and enhance content quality without added labour.

18. Counter AI Marketing: With AI-generated content on the rise, emphasise human elements in your marketing. Personal stories and genuine interactions distinguish your brand in a sea of automated content.

19. Choose the Right Instagram Account Type: Business accounts provide access to valuable analytics and advertising options that can help grow your brand. Ensure your account settings align with your business goals.

22. Target the Right Audience on Each Platform: Research where your ideal customers are active online and tailor your efforts to meet them there. Different platforms attract different demographics; adjust accordingly.

23. Harness YouTube's Power: As the second most-used search engine, YouTube's vast reach enhances brand visibility. Create educational, entertaining, or inspiring video content to engage viewers.

24. Stay Consistent: Regular posting schedules enhance brand recall. Develop a content calendar to support consistency and foster regular audience interaction.

25. Recycle Content: Repurpose content across platforms to maximize your efforts. A video can become a series of images or quotes; a blog post can inspire multiple tweets.

31. Engage in 20 Minutes Weekly: Adopt a focused approach with scheduled check-ins and engagement sessions. Effective strategy doesn’t necessarily require endless time commitment.

32. Navigate LinkedIn Company Pages: Establish your company's presence with a polished page. Share company news, tell your story, and connect with industry professionals.

Looking to build trust with your audience? Why not try a user-generated content campaign?

User-generated content (UGC) is the digital age's version of word of mouth that truly resonates. With 86% of people trusting UGC more than traditional ads, 90% of people are swayed by reviews from friends and family.

Here are a few ways to encourage user-generated content
1. Keep an eye out for Google reviews and social media tags. Engage by responding, sharing, and highlighting your community's voices.

2. Encourage content creation with incentives or launch engaging hashtags like Apple's .

3. Team up with complementary brands through tagging and collaborations to reach fresh audiences.

The best thing about user-generated content campaigns is that you can run them slowly and steadily in the background, building a library of reputation-building content without breaking the bank.

Ever wondered how long your social media posts and blogs last?

We invest a lot of energy into creating content, so it is nice to know how long others can find our posts from when we post them to the platform.

Platforms like TikTok and X have shorter life spans as more content is posted frequently. Posting multiple times daily on these platforms will help your content be seen.

Pinterest is an often-overlooked platform. It is excellent for physical products and services that have a visual aspect. I personally have created many travel boards or birthday party ideas boards on Pinterest, which I can refer to later.

Did any of these surprise you?

Looking to grow your reach on Tik Tok and Instagram? Did you know that characters in the comments section that are 50-99 characters long will get more buzz?

Key takeaways from Hootsuite Social Media Trends 2025 reports.

More engaging customers = New Followers = New Potential Customers = Sales

Don't oversaturate your feed with posts, which can cause audience fatigue.

Do start testing video content. Try showcasing people taking part in networking events, trade shows, conferences, and behind-the-scenes events.

Do start jumping in the comments section to insert your brand into relevant communities

Do it thoughtfully and authentically

1. Is the conversation relevant to your brand or industry?
2. Do your comments add value? If not, move on, scroll on
3. How long ago was the conversation posted? As a rule of thumb, comment within 24 hours of the original post. Joining the conversation in the first one to two hours to get the most love.

Were you surprised by any of these trends?

If marketing strategies are like cake, social media is like the egg that binds it together.
– Susie Basiaco, The Social Nest

Social media is often a small business owner’s first port of call for marketing (and I can’t help but agree!). However, like an egg in a cake, it will only really make things rise if mixed the right way. I like to combine social media marketing with a variety of other approaches, including a good website, email marketing list, and in-person networking. The trick is to tie it all together the right way.

Recently, I have been re-watching the original Beverly Hills 90210. In one episode, I noticed the advice given to Brenda and the crew while they studied for their SATs. The same can be said about how we gather information about social media accounts we want to follow.

1. Scan your feed for information relevant to your interests, humour and values.

2. Discard anything that doesn't connect with your values

3. Select - Like, comment, share and follow with the accounts you align with. Be active with these accounts so more of them appear in your feed.

4. Move on - Unfollow any accounts that no longer give value to you.

How do you select accounts to follow on your socials?
