SamiKata Events was born out of a jolly good time at the Glastonbury Music Festival in the early 2000s. A chance of rain led us down the Rabbit Hole into a fabulous Tipi set up and we knew instantly the day we left our corporate ivory towers that event life was for us. Whilst many are easily fooled by the glitz and glamour, event life is not for the faint hearted. Many a long day, early starts and late nights, skipped meals and extreme weather conditions. Over the last 10 years we have had an incredible team supporting our business, whether it’s family looking after the home front, our mighty crew in the field, our spectacular sales and marketing team and all the amazing vendors, venues, planners and event producers. Our crew got up at 4.30am to drive from Byron Bay to Kangaroo Valley for a wedding this weekend. They have done this trip up and down the highway many times before. The landscape sometimes green, sometimes brown but this time on fire. "It's like armageddon" said Lee. With tears in my eyes and ash falling in my lap from a southerly wind this morning I am devastated and so so so grateful to the Firies, Firies from NZ, RFS, Volunteers, Police & Ambos, rescuers and Carers of our wildlife, neighbours helping neighbours, mates helping mates and of course our governments heartfelt thoughts and prayers. We are calling on Mother Nature to open the heavens and send us some rain. We are calling on governments past, present and future to wake up and smell the coffee, or in our case smoke. This devastation can not be ignored any longer.
