Looking for a superlative experience for Valentine's Day? The ultimate cake to share with your love?
We have the answer...
Creator of the world's most Instagrammed cake is doing a collaboration with QT to bring two bespoke cake creations to QT for a limited time.
Suffering from FOMO a few years ago, we visited Black Star Pastry's Sydney CBD store to try their Strawberry Watermelon 🍉 Cake (pictured). Between layers of light fluffy cake and cream, the watermelon 🍉 provided a moist crunch that was a texture sensation. It was utterly memorable.
In this new collaboration, launching on Valentine's Day Friday 14 February and running until March 14, the bespoke cake creations The Love Bomb and The Ghost will be launched as part of the collab's 'Eat Your Heart Out' menu. You will be first to try them if you secure a Valentine's Day booking. What an awesome experience! Be sure to book!

Want to do something extra-special this Valentine's Day?
Home of the world's most instagrammed cake, the Strawberry Watermelon Cake, Black Star Pastry, is collaborating with QT to make two very special cakes for Valentine's Day and the month following.
On a trip to Sydney a few years back, we sought out this amazing cake at the Sydney CBD store. Between layers of light and fluffy cake and cream, the watermelon provided a moist crunch that was a texture sensation. It was utterly memorable.
Now you can discover lust at first bite this Valentine’s Day with QT Hotels & Resorts and cult-favourite bakery, Black Star Pastry in an exclusive, month-long love-fest of overindulgence inspired by the highs and lows of modern dating.
Launching Friday 14 February, the table will be set for a cake pairing that turns dreary dating stories into delicious decadence. Introducing: The Love Bomb and The Ghost, perfectly designed to impress your date (or enjoy it all by yourself!).
The Love Bomb is a decadent explosion of deep, rich chocolate flavours that intensifies with every bite. Resting on a bed of chocolate financier that gives way to a velvety, indulgent chocolate crèmeux, followed by a soft, airy chocolate sponge. Each layer is luxuriously coated in a smooth chocolate mousse ganache, building a silky depth of flavour. A second layer of chocolate sponge and mousse ganache creates an irresistible, layered richness, while the red streusel on top adds a delightful crunch, balancing the cake’s creamy indulgence. Garnished with striking raspberry chocolate shards, the cake becomes a literal "love bomb," bursting with passion and intensity from the first bite — a sweet declaration of love in chocolate form.
Unlike the ghost of your dating past, The Ghost is a delicate balance of light and refreshing flavours. At the base, a soft sponge cake lays the foundation, followed by a layer of crunchy surprise that adds a satisfying bite. The smooth, creamy vanilla mousse creates a luxurious texture, while the vibrant strawberry and raspberry compote introduces a bold, fruity contrast that dances on the palate. Another layer of sponge and vanilla mousse follows, providing a harmonious balance of lightness and richness. The cake is crowned with a decadent chocolate truffle garnish, elegantly veiled in a milk-coconut coating, in a cheeky nod to "the ghost" — fleeting yet unforgettable.
QT x Black Star Pastry’s limited Eat Your Heart Out Menu featuring The Love Bomb and The Ghost (AUD $18 each) will be available from Friday, 14 February until Friday, 14 March in all QT Hotels & Resorts’ signature dining restaurants and Room Service by QT, Australia wide, New Zealand and Singapore.

Can you think of a dish that screams 'Australia!'?
This is mine - French toast with wild rosella and apple with macadamia crumble and mascarpone, drizzled with rosella compote.
It's one of our favourite dishes on the menu at Native Harvest, Sanctuary Cove.
Rosellas? We haven't seen any growing for ages. How we let our Aussie native plants fade into the shadows is a mystery to me.
integrates Aussie native foods into well known dishes to make new Aussie favourites. They also have some products for sale. Check them out.

It's not too late to buy tickets for Meatstock, which is kicking off its national tour in Toowoomba from 7-8 March. We’re excited to share a rising BBQ trend we've noticed at Meatstock over the past few years.
Over the past decade, low-and-slow cooking has remained a favourite among BBQ enthusiasts. There's nothing quite like the satisfaction of watching beautiful ribs slowly transform in a smoker over hours in tools like Australia’s biggest smoker.
However, in recent years, big-fire grilling has made a spectacular comeback. Audiences are captivated by its speed and the dramatic display of flames dancing as the meat is cooked to perfection. This year, Meatstock Toowoomba is set to decide which trend will define BBQ culture in 2025.
Come along, enjoy the smoke, fire and flames and the hot bands that will perform on stage.
The Jack Daniel’s live stage features international country superstars alongside some of Australia’s finest music talent. Friday kicks off with performances by Brad Cox, Seaforth, Lane Pittman, Robber Mortimer, Bella Mackenzie, and Sammy White. On Saturday, the festival’s headliners — Chase Rice (USA), Oliver Anthony (USA), and Redferrin (USA) — will rock the stage, joined by Australia’s very own Taylor Moss, Melanie Dyer, The Wet Whistles, Dakota East and Piper Rodrigues.
EVENT: Meatstock Toowomba 2025
DATE: 7-8 March, 2025
VENUE: Toowomba Showgrounds
TICKET PRICE: Adult Friday pass starting at $72.50; adult Saturday pass starting at $88.50; adult Weekend pass starting at $148.50

From Lamb Weston, the master company behind many frozen potato products, comes the new, delicious Potato Scallops Cakes.
How does your family enjoy eating potato scallops? We love them loaded with smoked salmon, cream cheese, spring onions and capers. They provide a hearty snack that's crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.
Convenient to store in your freezer and quick to prepare in the oven or air fryer, these potato scallops make a great snack for a family celebration.
You'll find them in the freezer section of Woolworths supermarkets nationally.anz

Talking lobster rolls (or bugs to us Queenslanders), we had a beauty at Auckland Fish Markets. A stunningly fresh white bread roll was toasted on both sides (with butter, of course. This is NZ!), then filled with chopped lobster meat, mayo and shallots. It was served with crispy chips, pickle and slaw. We shared, as well as sharing crumbed fish of the day and Greek salad. What would you choose?

A little shout out to Shining Peak Brewing at New Plymouth , New Zealand, for the excellent food, drink, service and atmosphere we enjoyed last night. The lamb ribs, duck pate with beetroot and walnut salad and smoked capsicum relish with potato and kumara chips were fabulous. Our waitress, who hailed from Madagascar, was on fire with enthusiasm about her job. What a great vibe

The food on our holiday in New Zealand has been quite terrific. From prawns to miang, hangi to savoury or cheese scones, feijoa juice to fresh peaches that taste like peaches to the humble fish and chips, food is mostly made from scratch, hearty and somewhat healthy. Bakeries? Sweet slices are very sweet. That's my only complaint. Needless to say, we are having a great time.

'Legends in Concert' at Twin Towns offers a great opportunity to connect with the music of six legends of song: Cindy Lauper, Stevie Wonder, Cher, Tina Turner, Freddy Mercury and Elvis.
Performing a musical tribute is an art all its own, as performers embody the spirit, sound and presence of some of the most iconic musicians in history.
While we will never get to see most of these artists live, experiencing the best performances we almost believe that we are seeing the original artist.
Tomorrow is your last chance to see the amazing tribute performances of 'Legends in concert '.

When you love food as I do, I'd much rather share than go without! That's the life of a food-lover - sharing new experiences, knowledge, tastes and the best of everything we try. It doesn't mean eating everything, as some of you may think (otherwise would be cleaned out in seconds)! Nor over-indulging. A croissant shared is better than a croissant never tasted. Let's have more savouring and sharing in 2025!

Give the gift of Christmas with some artisan Gold Coast chocolates by . Founded six years ago by local chef and chocolatier Alicia Chapman, Little Cocoa has come to represent the best of our culinary arts. It is the chocolate of choice in dessert collaborations at Palette, where a new menu is launched to accompany each new exhibition at HOTA Gallery. Little Cocoa is also a favourite bespoke wedding and corporate gift; a gift that appeals to all the senses.
It's a gift for someone who has it all, as well as a gift that most of us can afford - that small piece of exquisite chocolate that is pure in its ingredients and flavours.
You'll find Litte Cocoa in Bailey Crescent, Southport, open until December 24. (Kindly gifted)
