Earlier this week, student work was displayed and celebrated at the Griffith Film School End of Year Showcase.

Family, friends, and industry guests joined our graduating students to experience gameplay from our outstanding Bachelor of Game Design students, and catch the premiere screening of work from our Bachelor of Animation and Bachelor of Film and Screen Media Production capstone projects. Also on show was remarkable work from our Honours and Master of Screen Production students.

The festivities culminated in our awards ceremony where we recognised outstanding achievements across all areas of production. Congratulations to all recipients!

It's heating up ☀️ and so is our inbox with your responses👏🏼
We have ALMOST (but not quite) reached our target of 1000 submissions! If you haven't taken the time to complete the 15-20-minute survey, we urge you to please do so!

We might be harping on about it but it is important to have your say and help us to champion for you in the rooms where we can make the Australian Screen Industry a more mentally sustainable one! 🩵🧠

We've spent most of 2024 trying to get our mental health survey in front of as many eyes as possible and we want to thank everyone who has taken the time to complete it. If you are still on the fence, or perhaps thinking you can't be bothered sitting down to give it the 15-20 minutes it needs, we urge you to consider this. We work in this industry because we LOVE it. On average, we spend approximately 45 years working before we can retire. Would you be happy to continue working in the industry for the next 45 years if you don't see any changes? What is 15 minutes in the grand scheme of things if it could help to create a more enjoyable and sustainable work life balance for you? 🤨🎬

Meet Bobbi-Lea Dionysius: A Champion for Mental Health in Film and the Chair of WIFT QLD (Women in Film & TV).

Bobbi-Lea, alongside Associate Professor Peter Hegedus, has dedicated over 18 months to a groundbreaking survey assessing mental health in the film and television industry. Sparked by feedback from Screen Queensland during COVID, they formed the Queensland Screen Collective to foster connection among filmmakers facing isolation. Through discussions and a pivotal panel at the Brisbane International Film Festival, it became clear that mental health is a pressing issue for many. Now, this survey aims to bring awareness and drive change. Your voice matters— fill out the survey using the link below. 👏🏼🩵 bit.ly/mental_health_survey_2024

Filmmaker Peter Hegedus, alongside colleague Bobbi-Lea Dionysius, launched a comprehensive mental health survey to uncover the struggles faced by our industry. After witnessing isolation during COVID-19, Peter realized many in our community were suffering silently. With alarming statistics—44% of industry workers experience moderate to severe anxiety—it's clear we need to advocate for change. Your input is vital! By filling out this survey, you'll help gather essential data that can drive support and improve wellbeing on set. Together, we can create a healthier, more connected film and television industry. Let your voice be heard! 🩵 bit.ly/mental_health_survey_2024

A big thank you to the lovely folks from Alt.VFX. Murray Smallwood (2D Lead) and Hayley Gibson (Global Talent & Culture Manager), who generously gave their time to talk to GFS Post Production students yesterday.

Hayley provided some great advice on building a career in the VFX industry, while showcasing some of the amazing work that Alt produces. Murray demonstrated some of the techniques and pipeline behind the creation of that work, with some really impressive examples from their recent projects such as the feature film Foe and the Australian drama mini series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.

Thank you so much Murray and Hayley, for the inspiration and wealth of info that you gave to our students.
