It's time for introductions!
I'm Mel (that’s me in the pic) , and let me tell you, I am absolutely pumped to kick off this project. After spending years in and around the local music scene, I took an extended break and then dove back in headfirst in 2020 by joining a brand spanking new band. And let me tell you, things had changed quite a bit since my last band was doing their thing. The local scene had all these new hoops to jump through that weren't there before.
I've always been passionate about sharing info, opportunities, and just lifting people up, especially when they're baring their souls through music. But lately, it feels like there's a whole lot of gatekeeping from the old guard. But you know what? The future of music is in the hands of some insanely talented young people. Who wouldn't want to hear or discover that? Our local scene is bursting at the seams with talent just waiting to be heard.
So, here's the deal: I want Where It's At to be the place for new local music. I want to spotlight bands who are just starting out, giving them a chance to learn from those who've been there, done that, and keep going back for more. I want to swap tour stories, reminisce about the worst gigs ever, share recording tales, and everything in between. I want new bands to have access to all the info they need - how to book gigs, how to make a name for themselves, you name it.
I'm beyond excited to kick things off! Watch this space...
