hello! some very sombre news. I've decided not to continue Duck Stab into 2024, and next week will be the final episode! last friday we did a locals only special on duck stab! 2 beautiful hours of the greatest Meanjin musicians throughout the years. I adored doing this episode, so fun and important to pay tribute to the artists I love and admire while also discovering the ginormous wealth of more obscure tracks, many suggested by yourselves. it is also worth noting that over half of this show would not have been possible without the incredible Kate, our anarchist archivist here at Zed HQ. wish I could've played more, but im only a 2 hour slot, not 24. thank you all for your kind words and kind ears! support local stars now and forever ❤️

last week's collage! very late, been astronomically busy and worn out. hope u have all had a great week, last week I had a fab chat to the fantastic June of who also curated a delicious bracket for u!! also opened with some 5th dimension who I adore which set off the show on a good foot. it was quite dark at zed HQ that day, only our studio was on, and entirely powered by big generator vans. pretty gothic and industrial! ciao 4 now!

I think I'm going a bit soft - it's quite terrible... last week, I had a chat about friends, memories, how will truly take over the world, the first time I saw the incredibly enigmatic Wondrous Fair, and paid tribute to the tragic passing of Daniel Fournier. also played your favourite covers, and thought about how fantastic it is that through covers we can listen to an artist's favourite song the way they hear it. I think Duck Stab is going too soft... we need u to save us

fully mourned Steve Mackey today on the show (too sad for it last week 🥲) celebrated Pulp, NO ZU (with Ag! ), the Mackerras family, and the motherland. I love music and I think its the most beautiful, earnest, truly universal language/art form there is, and I love getting to do this show and share this language I understand more than english. I've gotten to see so many bands I've worshipped for a good portion of my life only three months into this year, so I've been feeling pretty retrospective. see you next week, lets try not to let the heat melt our minds - stay cool, clean and hydrated ❤️🦆🔪
Duck Stab returned this friday!!! Thomas will not be returning for a little while, so hopefully time will fly by quickly for us all in the meantime during his absence❤️ Just a quiet, relatively relaxed show yesterday as I (Bella) oiled and got back on the trusty radio bicycle metaphor. Coming down from the high of tour chasing Pavement the past two weeks, I opted for some Cypress Hill & Sonic Youth 4 u. And Pavement of course. Also had the amazing Stephen Mackerras join me for a little while, not only of Wondrous Fair or Tangled Shoelaces fame, but now 4ZZZ volunteer fame! Last week we had an impromptu valentines themed episode, with songs about love (which many songs are) and things you might gift those you love. Or hate. We declared our love for Rodrick Heffley and gave Elliot Smith a fitting Diary of A Wimpy Kid introduction.

Last week, we had a special guest appearance of Egg from Liminal space 4zzz, duck stab proclaimed mascot, who picked their favourite Depeche Mode song for us to bump! We bookended the show with some Television in mourning of Tom Verlaine. The bracket theme this week was "SQUARE."
Thank you to the lovely mysterious person (perhaps Eco Radio aligned is our guess...?) who left some lemon myrtle for us in our pigeonhole. I thought I'd use it in our collage this week - is that what you're supposed to do with lemon myrtle?! Both our pigeonhole and page smell amazing - thanks!
