Preparing for your family shoot can feel overwhelming especially thinking about how your toddler is going to run a muck! But don’t worry - we’ve compiled a few tips to help you get started!

Choose a Style: Decide on the overall look and feel you want for your photos, whether it’s casual, formal, themed, etc.

Select Outfits: Coordinate outfits for the family that complement each other. Consider colors and patterns that work well together - we always suggest looking for something timeless.

Location: Decide on a location that fits your desired theme or has significance to your family. Whether it’s indoors, outdoors, or a specific backdrop, ensure it aligns with your vision (we can also help provide you with a list of locations if you’re struggling).

Timing: Choose a time of day that provides the best lighting conditions, typically early morning or late afternoon for soft, flattering light.

Discuss your Vision: Discuss your ideas, preferences and any specific shots you want with your photographer beforehand. It helps get everyone on the same page.

From capturing the precious first moments of little Eddie’s life at 8 weeks to celebrating his first birthday and beyond, every photoshoot has been a beautiful milestone in Whitney and Andy’s family journey. Our journey together began when we first met in a uni animation class, it was there that we discovered our shared passion for creativity and the art of capturing life's special moments.

Years flew by and with the same enthusiasm and drive, we founded Motif Studio. From humble beginnings of snapping professional headshots our venture has grown and expanded, diving headfirst into the diverse worlds of corporate events and intimate lifestyle shoots also.

Latest project with our friends over at STREETSOUL. The goal was to create a little eye-catcher to feature as their website banner video.
