Hey there Tranzmission Podcast listeners! We're taking a break from the podcast for the rest of 2024. Our team is volunteer run and we haven't had much of a break over the last 3 years Tranzmission has been going. So we've decided to take a much deserved break until the new year.

Hey podcast listeners Tranzmission is going on a hiatus until next year. We are brewing some big plans as well as having a much needed break for our team. We've consistently pumped out podcasts for the three years and we've decided three months is a good time to have a rest. We'll still be live each week on 4ZZZ 102.1FM each Tuesday from 9am. You can also listen back live on the website https://4zzz.org.au/amrap/tranzmission Looking forward to coming back onto our podcasting platform in 2025.

This week Ez is joined in studio by George Levi to review Elliot Page and Dominic Savage's new film called Close To You. Together (and soon joined by Sean) they dicuss the style of film, what came up for them both throughout the story as well as other film recommendations.

Gender Abolition?

In this week’s episode, Bette (she/they), Lizard (they/them), and special guest Ludo (he/ze) discuss such thorny concepts as the so-called s*x/gender distinction and whether or not gender should be abolished entirely. The conversation touches on s*x as a “cluster concept”, social gender vs gender identity, gender as collaboration, gender nihilism, and the implications of the recent Tickle v Giggle ruling for self-ID.

Debunking the 80% “Desistance” Myth

With Ez away sick, Bette (she/they) flies solo in the studio for the first time, digging deep into the central piece of disinformation used by anti-trans campaigners: the oft-repeated myth that over 80% of trans kids will come to identify as cisgender as they mature. Find out why this statistic is so misleading and what constituted “gender nonconformity” in the 1950s-1980s. And no, there is no “cure” for being transgender.

This week Ez & Bette are in studio talking about the week in community events including the Brisbane Pride Inc. March and community pride events around town. If you are interested in attending the march come to Queens Garden at 9:30am Sat 21st of September then from 10am marching to Musgrave Park over the bridge and into West End.

This episode Ez shares an article about Steve-O from Jackass and his decision to NOT have breast implants following a conversation with a trans person. Also, the reading of a Scientific American article by Brandy Schillace about "The Forgotten History of the World's First Trans Clinic" and Ez's call to action for everyone to come out and march over the weekend to show solidarity with the community and continue the fight for trans rights!

This week Ez & Hazel are hyped for so much community news, discussing topics such as the British Medical Association calling the Cass Review "Unsubstantiated," The supreme court of Nepal now legally recognises trans people who do not undergo gender-affirming surgery as trans, as well as discussions on the most topical Olympic news, Algerian boxer Iman Khelif and the international "outrage" of people finding out she is infact a cis gendered woman. The team also had guest Piper (they, she) from Meanjin People's Pride come on to talk counter protesting TERFs in town.

💥WHO THE HECK ARE WE?💥 ~ Transcript ~ Hey there, my name is Ez, I go by He/Him pronouns and I am a trans man. I am the show runner for Tranzmission on 4ZZZ. I'll just give you a little bit about me, I've been with 4ZZZ for 6 or 7 years now, I started out on Dikes on Mykes then I ended up as the executive producer for the last 3 years for Zed Games. I've now said my farewells to Zed Games and I am now taking on this incredible opportunity which is TRANZMISSION. Which is all about amplifying the voices of trans and gender non-conforming community here in Meanjin/Brisbane and beyond. What beyond means is Australia wide as well as internationally. I'm very proud of this project, it is something that I have been working on for about a year now. Finding the right team can also be a bit tricky but we've got a cool line up of Cai who is basically my partner in crime, they'll be on with me every week. We also have Jay, June and Elliott also fantastic contributing members of the trans community as well as 4ZZZ. So I'm really really excited about this and I hope you get to tune in, I hope you get to learn things, I hope you end up feeling more informed about what's happening in the community as well as really cool events, hopefully we get to attend lots of things, interview lots of people, including surgeons, spokespersons, and community organizers.
