Let’s talk.
Monday is the King’s Birthday public holiday in our Cairns and Brisbane offices. We’ll be back on deck Tuesday.
Media coverage reaches 90% of people in PNG. Our team is expert in planning & buying media across this, diverse, developing nation
Our team in Papua New Guinea came dressed in traditional Bilas in celebration of the 49th year of independence.
The word "Bilas" itself means adornment or decoration in Tok Pisin, one of PNG's official languages.
🇵🇬 The significance of Bilas 🇵🇬
1. Cultural identity: Bilas is a reflection of the wearer's tribal or regional identity. Each tribe or group has its unique style and patterns, representing their heritage and traditions.
2. Ritual and ceremonial use: Bilas is typically worn during important ceremonies like weddings, initiation rites, festivals, and the famous **sing-sings** (cultural gatherings where tribes come together to celebrate through music and dance).
3. Social status: In some groups, the quality and intricacy of Bilas indicate the wearer’s social status, wealth, and influence.
4. Spiritual significance: Bilas often incorporates elements believed to have spiritual power, connecting the wearer to ancestors and deities.
5. Preservation of tradition: Bilas helps preserve the rich and diverse cultures of PNG, passing them down through generations during important cultural events.
Today marks 49 years of PNG independence. We’re incredibly proud to be a part of the nation’s story of growth and progress – its potential is unlimited.

Time flies when you’re working alongside such an amazing organisation as the Sir Brian Bell Foundation (SBBF)!
Eight years ago, SBBF was created to fulfill the vision and values of Sir Brian Bell to contribute, support and give back to the community, enriching the lives of individuals across PNG.
Having been there from the start, we could not be prouder of the amazing journey that SBBF has taken and the work it has achieved specifically in driving awareness for health and education.
As always, thank you Bronwyn Wright for bringing Colony Group into the SBBF team. Each one of us has had the chance to touch and contribute to its success over the last eight years and we’ve cherished every moment.
Happy 8th birthday, Sir Brian Bell Foundation! We look forward to many more years of working together to improve the health, education and quality of life for communities across PNG!
Is the marketing funnel dead? In the old linear sense maybe, but the principles of guiding customers towards a purchase and fostering loyalty are still as relevant as before. Audience behaviours are changing and so too is our technology. As such, we’re seeing new trends in the customer journey.
Firstly, it’s non-linear. Customers interact with brands across a bunch of different touchpoints, influenced by social media, online reviews, peer recommendations and direct interactions. They’re ultimately more empowered; the old funnel that saw a one-way flow of influence from the marketer to the consumer does not reflect the way customers now conduct extensive research and rely on peer reviews.
Secondly, customers now expect seamless and personalised experiences at every stage of their interaction with the brand from awareness to advocacy. Digital transformation has a big part to play in this with AI and big data enabling more personalised and timely engagement.
Want to make a connection with your audience at every touchpoint?
May 28th 2024, is #WorldwideMenstrualHygieneDay.
The intention of this day is to shine a light on the millions of women and girls for whom the most natural of reproductive cycle functions can equate to abuse, stigma, missed opportunity, and loss of dignity. And today at Colony Group, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a wonderful collaboration to assist Queenpads that we were part of. As an organisation, QueenPads aims to ignite care and respect, educate and prioritise menstrual health, menstrual needs, the environment and normalise menstrual conversation. We’re proud to have assisted Sir Brian Bell Foundation and QueenPads to create a range of assets that have played a major role in shaping the QueenPads brand and in helping women. Our involvement included developing:
⚫ Branding & graphics
⚫ Packaging design
⚫ Product design
⚫ Uniform design
⚫ Educational material
