Proud to be part of Fairfield City Council’s - Cabramatta Moon Festival 2024!

CATO location services was honoured to provide Security and Crowd management services for this incredible one-day event, which attracted up to 100,000 attendees, including various members of parliament, The Lord Mayor and even MJ back on stage to do some moon walking! With multiple blocks closed down to facilitate this vibrant community celebration, our focus was on ensuring public safety and a smooth experience for all.

This year, a new team at the council entrusted us with their first-ever Moon Festival, and we're thrilled with how the event was managed. A big thanks to the NSW Police Force for their close collaboration to maintain safety throughout the day. Such a lovely community and the gratitude towards the CATO team by the members of the public was overwhelming!

A special shout out to the team at CATO who have been working over the last month to pull this together including our events senior accounts manager Nicola Illiadis and our operations team Anna Rosa, Aktan Aktas and Craig Hunter. CATO partnered with Sheridan Consulting Group Pty Ltd to deliver various risk assessments and an efficent security management plan.

Our Founding Managing Director, Kieran Patrick Cato, was onsite to oversee operations, and we couldn’t be prouder of the outcome.

On Tuesday, CATO was honoured to have attended the Business NSW Awards ceremony held at Sydney Town Hall. The ceremony was attended by Lord Mayor Clover Moore, among other distinguished guests to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Sydney’s most innovative business leaders.

From the entire CATO Crew, we wish a huge congratulations to the nominees, finalists and winners across all categories!

CATO is excited to be providing for Dark Spectrum in 2024, presented as part of Vivid Sydney.

This is CATO’s second year providing security services for the immersive light and sound event, after working with Dark Spectrum for their debut in 2023. Last year’s event was also the first time the abandoned Wynyard tunnels were opened to the public! 🎆

Taking place until the 15th of June, there’s still plenty of time to grab tickets and check out this year’s Dark Spectrum event.

SCREEN CAREERS BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT

Newly launched Screen Careers has recruited key screen industry players for its Board - and, today, announces the first round of appointments.

Led by Chair Chris Oliver Taylor, ABC Australia’s Chief Content Officer, the new Board appointments are Kate Marks, CEO Ausfilm, Adrian Swift, Head of Content, Production and Development, Channel 9, Will Hamilton, Director, Commercial and Business Operations BBC Studios and Jackie Emery, Head of Business and Legal Affairs, Flying Bark Productionsroductions.

Screen Careers CEO Esther Coleman Hawkins says high-level industry support is key to grow and strengthen the not-for-profit company for its future.

“High level industry support is crucial to the success of Screen Careers and we’re very grateful to those joining our Board for their expertise and enthusiasm for the years ahead. We’ve been fortunate to recruit a board with a multitude of skills – all of which we need to grow and develop the organisation.

“The Board members we are announcing today indicate that we’ve got that vital support - with more names coming soon.”

Screen Careers launched in March, focusing entirely on the careers of the Screen Industry crew, after more than a year of preparatory work by CEO Esther Coleman Hawkins, Head of Training and Career Development, Denise Eriksen, and Head of Sales and Marketing, Fiona Gilroy. It has been supported with four-year funding from VicScreen and Screen Australia.

Further Board appointments will be announced shortly – along with the names of a pool of Australian and International industry expert advisers who will bring their expertise to the organisation into the future.

A huge congratulations to all of the winners from the 22nd Annual Screen Producers Australia Awards, including Princess Bento Studio who took home Services and Facilities Business of the Year! 👏👏

Other highlights from the week included an industry dinner hosted by nominees and previous winners of the Services and Facilities Business of the Year Award - CATO Location Services, Count Out Loud and TAG Travel Group.

Great news for the industry with this exciting initiative from Screen Australia, VicScreen and Screen Careers in the works!

CATO MD Kieran Cato is enthusiastic in his support of the growing Aussie screen industry, particularly when it comes to raising awareness about the wide range of below-the-line jobs available.

Kieran has been involved in several initiatives in the past, including Set Educated, supported by Screen NSW; the Screen Warriors program, co-hosted by Australian Film Television and Radio School and targeted towards ex Navy, Army and Airforce personnel; and regionally focused workshops in collaboration with Screen Illawarra, plus more.

Screen Australia and VicScreen launch Screen Careers, a $1.4 million initiative targeting skills shortages in the Australian screen industry.

The event takes place across a 45km trail and is met with over 850 participants each year! CATO provided Equipment Hire and all Traffic Management 💪🏃
