Rock Stompin' Funk & Blues Show

Rock Stompin' Funk & Blues Show The show is hosted by three Rock and Blues enthusiasts alternating each fortnight with brothers Adrian and Simon one week and Harry Q Holden the next.
(1)

This page is the online interaction between the 3WBC 94.1 FM show and its listeners. Much of our audience stream the show live from outside the station's broadcast range. We try to bring a range of new and old blues and rock to play each week. Of course, there are a few favorites like Lou Reed, Neil Young, Tab Benoit, and Frank Zappa liberally spread through nearly every show, but we always find i

nteresting tracks to play. If we played what the listeners had already heard then why play it in the first place? We enjoy hunting for different music and hope you enjoy what we find. We also appreciate your feedback, so bring it on, and remember "Rock Is".

We have been having a bit of fun of late coming up with themes for the show and this week we’re at it again

Its been said that size doesn’t matter and I’m sure there are a few folk out there that would agree, but that doesn’t work with this weeks selections.

Everything has either big, little, long, fat, tiny, huge or short in the song title or artists name, you’ll get the idea. There's a heap to choose from so again we might have to re-visit for a second show in the future but in the meantime enjoy this little (sorry) lot in hour two.

Big Brother David Bowie
Mary Had A Little Lamb [Live] Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
Big B***y Woman Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears
Big Leg Emma ZEROensemble
Short People Randy Newman
Life Is Too Short Andy T Nick Nixon Band
Deep in My Soul Big Daddy Wilson
Hound Dog Big Mama Thornton
Femme Fatale Big Star
Big Money Sonny Smokin' Joe Kubek & Bnois King
Smalltown Blues Ruthie Foster
MY LITTLE PONY Chris Wilson
Twenty Small Ci**rs Frank Zappa
Maui Big Brother & The Holding Company

Doesn't get any better...

Ever since we experienced Kansas City-bred guitarist, singer, songwriter Samantha Fish on stage at Bluesfest in 2019, we’ve been huge fans of her dynamic brand of soulful, blues rock. On her 3rd trip to Australia, Samantha has teamed up with guitar-slinging friend Jesse Dayton for a double shot of...

Well for those tuned in last fortnight you might recall we decided it was high time for a theme

so we put our heads together over two or three tracks and came up with Cats n Dogs. And it’s been a fun topic or topics to chase down.
so without further ado, puns or prattling, I give you the second hours list for tomorrow night:-

Morph The Cat Donald Fagen
Bad Dog GravelRoad
Morph The Cat (Reprise) Donald Fagen
Cat Squirrel Collard Greens & Gravy
Tom Cat Blues The Cash Box Kings
Walking The Dog Chris Wilson
Hep Cats In Big Town Sam Myers and Anson Funderburgh
Let The Sleeping Dog Lie Roomful Of Blues
Catfish Blues Jimi Hendrix
Drownin' On Dry Land Tab Benoit

All but the last track features Cat or Dog in the title, but it does have a significant canine mention in the lyrics and it’s an absolutely awesome outing from Tab Benoit so it’s def in!
And for the record I did look at Cat Stevens, but just thought Yeah,Nah!

You know where and when to find us, go on you know you want to listen.

06/03/2024

Guess what? We have a theme this week!!

Yep, we know it's been a while, but finally it's here! So this week we've put our efforts into songs and artists that relate to all things cats...and dogs! Surprisingly, there's a heap out there, and we could easily do 2 or even 3 shows on the same topic.

Making the cut from me, however, in the first hour are the following tunes:
Dogs are calling - The Angels
Give the dog a bone - AC/DC
The wolf is at the door - Tom 'the suit' Forst
I wanna be your dog - Chris Whitley
Two cats - Linsey Alexander
No p***y blues - Grinderman
Wagging the dog - Geoff Achison
I wouldn't treat a dog - Bernard Allison
Greyhound - Mike Zito
Lyin' like a dog - Buddy Guy
plus
A Lou Reed song. You'll have to wait!!!

Ade's got a ripper list too, so look out for that one.

Meantime, don't forget to tune in to our show tomorrow between 6 and 8pm - 94.1fm on your radio, or stream us from the 3WBC website or your phone app

If you're a Russell Morris fan then this is for you!

Russell Morris Update.
After chatting with Russ, we've decided to look at late in December to get him to Songland to promote the new album/CD. As mentioned previously, we have an EXCLUSIVE promotion on this release-The Real Thing-Symphonic Concert. After you've pre-ordered from us, you'll get the choice of the rare GOLD CD of Sharkmouth-signed, or concert program-autographed.
I'll reply to all of you who have shown your support to the project so far....it's playing here at the store now (I'm special, I have an advanced copy).....and it is just the most amazing piece of work....
Cheers, Frog.

I have a problem. I've got a mate who is releasing the most amazing piece of work in his career. He's been around a while, had a few hits. His name is RUSSELL MORRIS. I talked a bit a few months ago about this release-it's his double album with a 55 piece orchestra & 10 piece band live on stage. It. Is. Stunning. (I've had a copy here and it is his crowning achievement).

I want to get Russ here for a signing of this double album/double CD but to be fair to him to come from interstate, I really need a minimum of 100 people here at the store to meet him, autograph your purchase, get a photo......

So, if you would DEFINITELY be interested in ordering his Record or CD (or both) could you please let me know here?

Cheers, Frog.

Well it seems our Royalty show was a bit of a winner based on the positive feedback, so I figured it was fair to include a couple of tracks that I had to sideline. Even tho’ this is isn't a follow on show per se, the tracks from Albert King and the the Ronnie Earl/Duke Robillard combo stand alone as awesome tracks so I have included them in the second hour of this weeks show. I am featuring a few longish tracks with The Meters, Quinn Sullivan, Ray Beadle and a nice little Beatles rarity. I hope you enjoy this little cruisey outing.
Hard Road Stevie Wright
