A lovely vignette of a video featuring the Versace Boys at Kuranda Roots Festival in July 2024. A power outage on stage meant that their gig was delayed 30 mins or so. Kuranda is unusual in that there is no MC or introduction of artists, and so in an act of consumate professionalism the band started their set playing to an empty front of house. Watch as in the twinkle of an eye a crowd miraculously appears from nowhere it seems.
The Versace Boys then delivered an high energy polished energised set featuring their uniquely entertaining and original songs. These guys are pure entertainers, slightly outrageous and calculatingly but gently confronting with an Aussie Hip Hop sound with just the right mix of electric, brass, keyboard, mixing nous and sass. Laugh out loud often free-styling song material provides a welcome parady of everyday life with no-one from the beauty and nail obsessed to vegans, or exs who take everything upon divorce spared, each new subject speared with rapier-like irony which could be Melbourne International Comedy Festival gold.
First time we have seen them and impressed, entertained and will come back for more.
