With reference to the grass fire currently burning at Quarry Hill/Golden Square - here is an alert just issued by Vic State Emergency

Issued Today at 4:28 PM.

This Watch and Act message is being issued for Golden Gully, Golden Square, Quarry Hill.

There is a grassfire at Golden Square that is not yet under control.
This grassfire is travelling in a south easterly direction from Woodward Road towards Belle Vue Road.
Please avoid the area as emergency services are responding.
This Watch and Act message replaces the Watch and Act issued at 4:05 pm.
Staying close to a building where you can shelter is the safest option, as conditions can change suddenly.

Continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
What you should do:
Monitor changes, including increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility that indicates the situation is changing.
If you are away from home, do not return.

If the situation changes you will need to leave quickly. Plan to:
Take your pets, medications, mobile phone and charger.
Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area.
Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.

We presented some certificates of appreciation to our members at the AGM. Those who had programs which were nominated in the 2023 CBAA Awards but weren't finalists were acknowledged for their work and dedication and the high standard of their programs. The finalist entries will receive certificates from the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) in due course. Please read the citations on each certificate. We acknowledge that not everyone who does an excellent job week after week was acknowledged but everyone is truly appreciated

The 16th Annual General Meeting of Central Victorian Community Broadcasts Inc. (T/As Phoenix FM) was held last Sunday afternoon 12th November.

The meeting was very productive, served its legal obligations and included a post AGM social event with lots of food and top entertainment from Marc Leon

Our newly minted Committee of Management 2023/2024 was badly in need of a debrief after all the preparations and hard work leading up to our very successful Annual General Meeting last Sunday. Some of our incoming Committee of Management meeting members decided to go out to Carl's Jr. in Epsom last Monday evening and really enjoyed their meal at this establishment which has only recently come to Bendigo.

We just "happened" to have our Outside Broadcast van with us and the management was curious about Phoenix FM and we happily obliged telling them how wonderful we are!

Phoenix FM 106.7 MHz's sixteenth Annual General Meeting was held yesterday and far from being the boring old AGM that we have to have it was quite enjoyable. We had several local dignitories as guests including Maree Edwards MP, Gaelle Broad MP, Deputy Mayor of Bendigo Cr Matthew Evans, Cr. Julie Sloan as well as our own members. We were treated half way through the meeting to a video produced by Phoenix FM presenter Brett Adie of The Trove Show fame. Brett put together a fantastic video featuring the recent Maldon Folk Festival and Phoenix FM's Outside broadcast there last Sunday. A delicious spread was provided by Penhall's catering - well done Debbie and Marc Leon also performed for us to close the day. Our new Committee of Management was elected: President, Samual Harrison, Vice President Bill Whitbread, Secretary Anne Conway, Treasurer John Pearce, Technical Adviser to Committee Peter Williams and ordinary
committee members Tanya Brnjak, Brett Adie and Craig Whan (photo shown below)
That is that done and dusted now onto the next year.
