Bathurst City Life

Bathurst City Life The Village Voice is your paper. Community News, Good News, Sports News. Covering Bathurst and Lithgow regions, and growing to cover the entire Central West.

If you have a story to tell, head over to our website http://villagevoice.net.au Why is it that the news we get each week is bad, terrible or worse. We live in a great community, the gateway to the central west of NSW and we have amazing stories to tell. Lithgow is a unique area being made up of so many wonderful villages, full of great people that still believe in local community. Our goal is to

tell the stories of those communities week in week out, but we need your help. The Village Voice is built on the principle of citizen Journalism, you already have the stories, we just provide you a platform to be heard. Our state of the art website allows you to send us your stories, which are then checked and published to the website every day, the stories that are of interest to the community, gauged by some clever technology on the website, are the ones that our journalists then follow up further on and get right into the story. This is the news of the people. Our region can lead the way and show the rest of the world how it is done. Rich Evans

Always look on the bright side
An open letter from Rich Evans

I started the article last week with a line from a Dylan song, this week, that ear worm from the Monty Python’s - Life of Brian… Always look on the bright side of life.

That is what we are doing in this current period as we see our hopes and dreams dashed against the rocks of reality. We are looking at the positives in what a new reinvented publication means for our business and what it may mean for the region.

As I wrote about last week, we received confirmation that our current printing provider will be closing their doors for good in the coming weeks. This is not completely out of the blue for us, as we had heard rumours, however it could not come at a worse time. We were just starting to rebuild the business after surviving COVID last year and the inevitable downturn in revenue we have experienced in 2021.

This will be the last weekly Bathurst City Life and we will be relaunching in June the all new Central West Village Voice. A combination of our Lithgow and Bathurst titles into one publication. It will also be a fortnightly publication while we make this transition.

In between each fortnightly publication we will publishing with a digital first strategy and our newly developed website will have all the regions stories in one place. We will also be relaunching our podcast, creating more video content and digging deeper into interesting people, events and stories from our communities.

There are far more upsides than downsides as we have worked through this decision over the last couple of weeks, and we trust everyone will see that as the new publication hits stands in the middle of June.

Our hope is that we will be around to continue to support the community as we have done for many years, and this is our best opportunity to do that.

What we are looking for now is support from advertisers who want to reach a much bigger audience than any other regional publication can offer, now that our footprint will hit from Blackheath to Bathurst with one publication, it is more cost effective than ever to reach the community.

For more information on advertising or other ways you can support us, contact Kellie on 0429001918 or email [email protected].

We look forward to your feedback on the all new Central West Village Voice when it hits newsstands on 10 June.

Our final weekly Bathurst City Life... look out for the Central West Village Voice in June!
