New Years Resolutions

by All of Us

With the exuberance and merriment[a] of Christmas just about behind us, we’re turning our attention to the end of a pretty crazy year.

2021; what happened to you? Weren’t you meant to be our break, our respite from the chaos and fear of 2020?

Instead, the tedium of trying to stay alive in a global pandemic continued, and we might have questioned why we kept having to keep going, to engage with a facsimile of learning that was so far removed from what we’d expected at the beginning of the year, to concentrate, to hand in that f***ing assessment in on time.

But you’ve given us a lot as well, from a hope-filled vaccine rollout, another round of big-tech shaming that looks like it might start to fix our online world and a small girl, miraculously found over three weeks after she was lost.

So in that spirit, the team here are imposing our own little order on the chaos, and committing ourselves to something we can look back on in 12 months and say, ‘Yeah, I actually managed to do that!”

Liam: To go a whole year with the same pair of headphones (as opposed to the ….ahem…..seven this year🤦‍♂️)

Susy: To actually try contact lenses (I have very little faith in me)

Archie: To go a whole year without being made redundant from a regional news station (doubt it)

Sophie: To keep a pair of white sneakers white (thank you Medusa dance floor)

So are you going to try one little thing in 2022? As you can see, it can be completely random, or something meaningful.

Merry Christmas everyone! Remember to stay safe and enjoy the small moments today.

Merry Christmas everyone! Remember to stay safe and enjoy the small moments today.

24/12/2021

So it’s Christmas Eve! It's quite a fab time of year. You get to see your friends and family and eat some pretty good food. Christmas is a really important time of year for me and I know we as a magazine have been quiet this festive season so I thought I’d give a little President’s Christmas update! So lets get into it:

Firstly, don’t worry we haven’t disappeared! We’re just having a break for the summer and the festive season because we’re all on summer break as most of you know. I’m very excited to bring to our readers Interp in 2022. We have some big articles in the pipeline so get excited and get around it when we release. Hopefully the new year will bring new contributors and heaps of fun articles. We’re definitely sticking around for the long run so we hope that you enjoy reading Interp as much as we all enjoy making it! Thank you for supporting us in the short time we have been up and running! It’s crazy how much our readers have supported us and we hope we don’t disappoint in the new year!

Now it wouldn’t be one of my editorial articles without a bit of me rambling about my personal life. Now is it just me or did the Christmas spirit only start last night? It could be because I had Covid last week. Now that sounds depressing. But I got so much done in isolation and I get out on Christmas Day so I’m so excited to spend time with the family. I know I said it in my last editorial in October but please get vaccinated (even though most of us are) because trust me, COVID is something you do not wanna get. I know Christmas is looking a lot different this year for a lot of us and my thoughts go out to everyone who is in isolation this festive season. But with every cloud there is a silver lining, so even though things aren’t exactly festive, you can still make the most of the time of year by cooking yourself a whole feast or buying yourself some extra Christmas presents (I know did).

All in all, I personally hope every single one of our readers have the best time they can this Christmas and the Summer of 2022. Thank you for the continued support and from our Interp family to yours: Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!!!!

President
Joe Richards
