I know nothing about luxury fashion. I prefer investment and business instead. One of my best recent investments has been online luxury fashion retailer Farfetch.com. Please don't burst my bubble! For some time now the online retail sector has been outperforming most other investments. I ended last week extremely grateful with over 28% profit in 3 weeks from Templeandwebster.com.au (TPW.AX) and over 46% profit in just a week from Redbubble.com (RBL.AX). What recession? Kogan.com (KGN) has gone from $4 a share in the depths of the COVID pandemic all the way up to over $14 a share when the share market closed today. Are you putting your money to work? I'll hopefully be posting more about my favourite retail and online retail companies soon...

I love to learn lessons from the passed. When i look back over the past 1 year in Australian Shares, you can see that you would have lost money, or made very little (only 2%) unless you invested in Healthcare companies. The healthcare industry is now up over 35% from just a year ago! Over the next few weeks i'll be sharing my favourite companies from every sector and what i look for before i make a decision to invest. Did a quick search today, I was wondering which shares have been winners in the passed month. The sharemarket has had its best month in a long time. Biotech company Mesoblast (MSB) has been up 122% in the passed month, and I'm sad to say I missed out! The best industry by far to have your money in has been Technology which is up by 30%. I will be keeping an eye on Afterpay (APT), Mesoblast (MSB), and Paladin Energy (PDN) over the next few months...

What's the effect of COVID-19 on your superannuation retirement fund? If you are like most Australians and your super fund is invested in the Australian sharemarket, your super fund has been beaten up pretty bad! For about a whole month until 23 March the ASX 200 dropped 38%. As the country continued to worry and lockdown measure were tightened, many investors rushed in driving Australian shares back up by 25% - thats a pretty good bounce back in around 3 weeks! It's hard to be sure just how much more it will go up, but we need to pay close attention that's for sure!

Whats going on with the Australian Dollar right now? On the 9th of March along with many other investments fell sharply for about 2 weeks straight! It lost over 17% against the USD in that time and has since recovered by 15% in about a month. The downward trendline suggests to still be cautious as it acts as resistance stopping it from going higher. The downwards trendline is a typical sign of bad investor sentiment (low confidence) and increased selling pressure.

Was taking a look at the gold price today. With uncertainty so high, gold is also trading towards it's all time high of around US $1,900 per ounce. As you can see, markets go up, markets go down and markets go sideways for long periods of time. In investing, just like in life, timing is important. You need to know when to buy and when to stay out of the market when things go bad!
