Don't let arguments with your teen scare you off. Keep returning to the relationship over and over again.

As the adults with grown brains, our responsibility is to step out of the argument. This doesn't mean to shut down the conversation, it means we need to really listen to what they are saying. What is it that they NEED? What obstacle are they facing? Why are they so determined in this moment to "be right" or "get their way" or whatever that moment holds.

Our own curiosity goes a long way toward ending arguments,

--> "I hear this is important to you. I need to take a quick break to calm my body, but then I want to come back and listen. I think you're trying to tell me something and I'm just not understanding."

--> "I hear this is important to you. I just don't have the bandwidth to make this happen right now. But I do want to listen and understand your perspective."

We do not have to shut down a conversation in order to stop arguments. We just need to check in with ourselves and get curious about what our teens are really asking of us.

Parenting a teenager can feel like embarking on an unpredictable adventure. As your teen navigates the tumultuous waters of adolescence, here are some strategies to help you stay afloat:

1. Communication is Key: Foster an open and non-judgmental environment for your teen to express themselves. Listen actively, ask questions, and be present in their world.
2. Set Boundaries with Empathy: While rules are essential, try to establish them collaboratively. Understand their perspective, and together, create guidelines that balance freedom and responsibility.
3. Embrace the Rollercoaster: Teenagers experience a whirlwind of emotions. Be patient and understanding during the highs and lows, offering support without judgment.
4. Lead by Example: Demonstrate the values and behaviors you wish to see in them. Teens are more likely to emulate positive actions they witness in their parents.
5. Stay Informed: Be aware of the challenges and trends that teens face today. Stay informed about technology, social media, and cultural influences to better understand your teen’s world.
6. Encourage Independence: Gradually give your teen more responsibilities and decision-making power. This helps build confidence and prepares them for adulthood.
7. Quality Time Matters: Despite their growing independence, teens still crave quality time with their parents. Find activities you both enjoy and use them as opportunities to connect.
8. Pick Your Battles: Not every issue is worth a confrontation. Choose your battles wisely, focusing on the most critical issues to maintain a healthy parent-teen relationship.

Remember, parenting a teenager is a journey with both challenges and rewards. By fostering trust, maintaining open communication, and embracing the changes, you can navigate these years together.

S*x education is an important topic that every parent should discuss with their teen. It may be an uncomfortable topic, but it’s a necessary conversation that can help your teen make informed decisions about their s*xual health. Here are some tips on how to approach s*x education with your teen:

1. Start early: It’s essential to start talking about s*x with your teen early. This helps to establish a culture of open communication and sets the stage for future conversations. You can begin with age-appropriate discussions about bodies and boundaries when they are young and gradually build on these conversations as they age.

2. Be honest: Regarding s*x education, being open with your teen is essential. Don’t be afraid to answer their questions truthfully, but do so in a way appropriate for their age and level of understanding. Encourage your teen to come to you with any questions or concerns.

3. Discuss consent: It’s essential to teach your teen about the importance of consent in s*xual relationships. Teach them that they have the right to say “no” and that they should always respect their partner’s boundaries. This can help to prevent s*xual violence and promote healthy relationships.

4. Talk about contraception: Discussing contraception with your teen is crucial in helping them make informed decisions about their s*xual health. Talk to them about the different types of contraception available, how they work, and their effectiveness. Encourage your teen to use contraception to protect themselves from unintended pregnancies and s*xually transmitted infections (STIs).

5. Discuss healthy relationships: Talk to your teen about healthy relationships. Encourage them to seek out partners who respect them and treat them well. Teach them the importance of communication, trust, and mutual respect in relationships.

Starting early, being honest, discussing consent, contraception, and healthy relationships can help your teen make informed decisions about their s*xual health. Open communication is key to establishing a culture of trust and respect between you and your teen.

Life skills are essential for tweens and teens as they prepare for the challenges of adulthood. These skills include things like communication, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, time management, and financial literacy, among others. By developing these skills, young people gain the ability to navigate complex situations with confidence and make informed decisions that lead to success. They also learn how to build and maintain positive relationships, set and achieve goals, and manage their own emotions and behaviors. Ultimately, life skills are critical for helping tweens and teens develop into capable, independent adults who are equipped to handle whatever challenges come their way.

"Speaking up for yourself can make anyone anxious. But if we prepare ourselves by practising we can do it without letting our big feeling silence us. Kids standing up for themselves has a lot of benefits…
👉 They will feel comfortable saying no
👉They will feel more confident and strong
👉They will find their independence not rely on others to save them
👉 They will develop solid and healthy relationships with peers who align with her morals and values
👉They will unlock the inner power.

Let's work with our kids to help them face these challenges independently"

When talking about s*x, most parents avoid talking to their kids about it because most parents think:
1. Will wait for it until their kids get older
2. If parents talk about it, the kids will want to do it
3. The kids don't ask about it
4. The school will teach them
5. Kids don't want to talk about it to their parents
5. I feel uncomfortable talking about it
6. I don't know what to say

In reality, starting to communicate with them early about s*x is very important, especially when they become adolescents. Children who receive s*x education early will less likely to engage in risky s*xual activity,
