🚨 BREAKING: Police have confirmed a major operation is unfolding as forensic teams and other officers converge on a Ballina property.
NSW Police has been asked for more information about the Cherry St situation, which has also drawn firefighters and ambulance paramedics. A police spokesman said he was not able to provide details as the operation was still underway about 3pm.
Police have not issued a wider alert or locked down streets at this stage.

Firies across the state are pleading with households to check their smoke alarms as winter begins.
Nine people died in residential fires in 2023 – out of 959 fires in 2022, only 50 per cent of homes had a working smoke alarm.
“That inexpensive, small device on the ceiling may mean the difference between you getting out of a fire alive and tragedy,” FRNSW Commissioner, Jeremy Fewtrell, said.
Members of the public can book a fire safety visit from local fire crews, which can inspect your home, provide safety advice and install a new, 10-year smoke alarm, free of charge.
