This Emergency Warning is being issued for Newtown, Ross Creek, Scarsdale, Smythesdale.

- The grassfire at Newtown has spread into the Ross Creek State Forest.
- This bushfire is not yet under control.
- The bushfire is travelling in a northerly direction towards Scarsdale, Smythesdale and Woodland Drive including Skipper Road.
- These areas could be impacted anytime within the next 2 hours..
- This advice message replaces the Emergency Warning message issued at 7.07pm today.

Leaving immediately is the safest option, before conditions become too dangerous.

Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.

It’s with much sadness we report our beloved merry medic, Dr James Wright has announced his retirement from the media after more than 40 years (and 10,600 segments).

Doc Wright is currently heard weekdays at 5.45am, 7.45am, 12.45pm and 4.45pm.

The doc’s final segments will air on Friday 3rd September.

We wish the doc all the best for his retirement (and at 93 we think he’s earned it)!
