Residents in the Armidale region will be asked what makes the region a great place to live, study, work, and visit as part of a new livability study.

Armidale Regional Council (ARC) is participating in the 2025 Armidale Regional Livability Survey, joining over 80,000 people across Australia who have shared their views in previous studies.

ARC Mayor Sam Coupland said the insights residents share will be used to inform local strategic planning and priorities community ideas.

“By participating, residents will play an important role in shaping the future of the community and influencing planning and investment decisions that improve the quality of life for everyone in our region,” said Sam Coupland

“This livability study is an important opportunity for residents to share what makes Armidale such a special place to live, work, and visit.

“By understanding what matters most to the community, we can continue to build a vibrant and thriving region not only for our current residents but for people who are looking to move up to our fabulous area.

“By listening to the community, we can ensure that our future growth aligns with what people and Council truly values.”

ARC is committed to long-term planning that enhances livability of its region and promotes the well being of all residents.

“Your voice is needed, whether you’re a long-time resident, a student, or a visitor to the region. Everyone’s input matters.” said Mayor Coupland.

The survey will be live from February 17th and closes March 24th.
See Councils Website to be part of the Survey.

NSW Ambulance has welcomes 119 new paramedic interns and 14 new emergency medical call takers, after they were officially inducted at a ceremony at the State Operations Centre in Sydney.

And three of those are heading to the New England Region.

This graduation follows the Post Employment Tertiary Pathway (PEPT) induction help two weeks ago and will further boost frontline health services across the state, with many commencing their first shifts from this week.

“The new paramedic interns and emergency medical call takers represent the next generation of dedicated first responders, ready to serve communities across NSW.” Said Minister for Health, Ryan Park.

The new recruits joining the service come from a range of backgrounds and experiences and will be scattered throughout the region.

The paramedic interns will be posted across NSW to complete the on-road portion of their 12-month internships before taking permanent positions throughout both regional and metropolitan areas.

All the emergency medical call takers will be posted to Sydney Control Centre.

“Every call the new paramedic interns and emergency medical call takers respond to is an opportunity to make a difference and help those in our community in their most vulnerable moments.” Said NSW Ambulance Chief Executive Dr. Dominic Morgan.

ARMIDALE AIRPORT - UPDATE✈
Tuesday 18 February

Armidale Airport remains closed except for aircraft with prior permission to operate. This is to allow aircraft currently at the airport to depart and to also assist local aviation companies to relocate aircraft. Serious medivac will continue to operate.

Flights will continue to operate out of Tamworth Airport and council will provide a bus service from the Armidale Airport to connect with those flights leaving and arriving in Tamworth.

By the end of tomorrow the team working on the pavement will complete all known issues. Council is engaging specialist pavement strength contractors on Wednesday who will conduct testing for the issues we cannot see with the runway pavement. This will determine if there are further soft spots that have yet to surface.

The pavement strength testing results will determine if the airport remains closed, opens for smaller aircraft, or reopens for unrestricted operations. If further works are required, they will be undertaken directly. If the test results are good, we will work with our airline partners to reinstate flights directly into Armidale as soon as possible.

BUS SCHEDULE - Tuesday 18 February
Buses depart from Armidale Airport
7am
9.30am
1.30pm
8pm departure from Tamworth Airport to Armidale.
