📣📣📣Club Announcement 📣📣📣

I am delighted to share with all SGKC members the excellent news that we have secured Grant funding of $142,000 from the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing.

The Grant funding is a significant contribution towards an overall budget of $355,000 that will enable the track to be extended, bringing the facility up to modern standards.

The proposed new track layout can be viewed below, noting that it uses all available land on our leasehold. Final track length will be approx 980 metres.

So that all members fully understand what is being proposed and are given the opportunity to provide feedback, the SGKC Committee will host a briefing to take place on:

Tuesday 8th February 2022 from 7pm to 9pm. A sausage sizzle from 6pm will also be available, so come and make this a proper social occassion and share your thoughts with the Committee.

Topics to be covered include:

Strategic need to upgrade
SGKC financial position and affordability of the upgrade
How the project will be managed
When the works will be scheduled and the new track available for racing
Options to get the existing track resurfaced at the same time
On behalf of all of the SGKC committee we hope to see you at the track for this very important meeting that will shape the future of our club.

Well Hello everyone ...

Firstly can i say sry for just disappearing after the VCS stint - commentating for that series was amazing thanks so much to all concerned.

i will be honest karting for me took a different path to the one i really liked and i lost interest quite literally. Although deep inside the passion was always there.

I recently aquired some air cooled screamers from the 90`s and restored an omega legend ... so much fun to feel that kinda power again.

Some of you have seen the ikart clip with the Omega as the headline and a bit about how karting got going in SA. im really happy to say i will try to continue this if you like as the passion in me has been reignited due to the RKA and vintage karting.

Maybe even go have a look at some dirt as well now that alot of bitty guys n girls are getting dirty and doing well i might add.

Well hello to all
i know its been a long time since i have posted anything or for that matter done anything in the way of media in karting.

TBH after the 51st Australian nationals and the direction that karting took i was quite dismayed and really lost interest in competing with all the extras that was being introduced.

That said i always had the passion inside to want to just drive for the pleasure of the feeling that only a kart can give especially a twin 200 super.

Recently i have invested in some old school air cooled screamers my fav. with the intention of building another twin lucky enough have come across a 23 yr omega legend tp13 from 98 , rescued and restored with a ss97 crg reed on it and whala theres that feeling again.
Old school karting is my thing and now with the RKA running meets to satisfy those that love this era -- the gates of heaven have opened to sweet falceto sound of 20000 rpms.

I look forward to maybe creating some more media, interviews advertising etc with the old school class in the future.
