SARMA is proud to promote Railway Modelling as a hobby in South Australia, and have done so since 1957! As part of this interest, the club constructs and operates layouts in multiple scales for use at exhibitions, and fosters the building of modelling skills among our membership. Primarily we operate South Australian HO and N Scale at exhibitions although we have many members who model OO, O, G an
d Narrow Gauge scales. SARMA uses Digital Command Control (DCC) extensively, with our HO clubroom and exhibiton layouts run exclusively with this method, and our N scale layouts being switchable between DC or DCC. Apart from modelling, the club holds and attends a number of social functions throughout the year, including mystery bus trips and visits to kindred railway groups, Christmas dinners, holds two Toy and Model Swap Meets per year and other events such as Open Days. Our meetings are held at our clubrooms situated in Dernancourt, with the second Wednesday of each month being a General Meeting whereby club business is discussed, modelling work displayed, a raffle and entertaintment consisting of a railway themed subject (eg video, presentation, modelling notes etc). The start time for the General Meeting is 7:30. All other Wednesdays are 'Modelling Nights' beginning at approx 6:30pm, whereby members do a wide variety of modelling tasks (personal or club). Refreshments are avaliable at all times during clubroom opening hours and members have access to the Club shop. The club has a quarterly magazine, the 'Buffer Stop'. Each month an electronic Supplement is sent to the members to keep them up to date with club matters. Vistors are always welcome, please do not hesitate to get in touch for further questions.
