I first reached out to Luke Howard back in late 2013 after purchasing Sun Cloud on bandcamp. I fell completely in love with that album. Clueless how something so beautiful was lost in such obscurity. Fast forward almost 11 years, Luke is a professional working musician/composer and we're helping release our 6th record together with him. Life ❤️

Interlinked, the ballet commissioned by Birmingham Royal Ballet and choreographed by Juliano Nunes, is out today! Enjoy :)

Today Australian composer and instrumentalist Luke Howard shares with us his new album 'Interlinked', available to listen immediately. Additionally, you can pre-order the vinyl with Hobbledehoy.

Interlinked is a ballet scored by Luke with contemporary choreographer Juliano Nunes, commissioned by the Birmingham Royal Ballet for the Commonwealth games in 2022 and performed at the legendary Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival in 2024.

Short Snarl is the solo project of Tarntanya-based artist, writer, teaching artist and composer Thea Martin. Accompanied by Sam Wilson (Wake In Fright) and V Marousopolous (Keeskea), the trio weave together delicate, intertwined and slowly unfurling, alt-folk.

While on a surface level, Gossamer Songs is an exploration of the light and delicate, the debut solo recording from Tarntanya/Adelaide-based artist Thea Martin as Short Snarl is also about suspended time and trance. Not just a steady movement from A to B, but as something that flows, meanders and eddies, like a gentle wind.

Through an almost entirely DIY home-recording (in V of Keeskea's garden shed!), Thea explores their relationship to and between masculinity, shame and love. An intimate and immediate record that exudes warmth, a glimpse into their unfolding and expanding world.

I've been encouraged to draft a hobbledehoy memoir of sorts by a friend... an exercise in self-reflection on pivotal times over the last 18 years (and counting). It's been surprisingly refreshing and emotional, sprinkled with tales of "the indu$try" ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ . Of course, right? Our little indie music communities are very small, bound to happen! Last night I started on a moment where an artist started working with hobble, their previous label (now less than shy about their new standing) began making things difficult for another one of "their artists" attempting a similar manoeuvre. I can't even. At the time I wasn't as accepting of what was still out of my own control as I think I should have been. But it's probably a great time to remember that mean people suck and kindness is a character strength. Artists, forever.
