"São Paulo represents, for people from the north-eastern inland, a challenge. I have come to know that everything depends on the way we look at it. For me, it was a land of opportunities. Even though I may have stumbled, I did not fall in the beginning. I persisted. I studied. I grew. I arrived there as a Down Street boy, with baggage full of 'no' and 'I can’t'. I had to discover and achieve the 'yes' and 'I can'" – Martines (author of My Way to the Seven Seas).
In this short video from the book, Martines reflects on how far he has come since growing up in his village in Brazil.

In this video he describes his first experience working aboard the Queen Elizabeth ocean liner.
