The Life FM Roadies had the pleasure of presenting the Heart for Adelaide Award to The Bike Shed at Blackwood. Acknowledging the dedication of their team in providing restored bicycles to people in need in the community. Their practical support provides not only a safe form of transport but also reduces waste in the environment.

On Monday the Life FM Roadies have the pleasure of presenting the Heart for Adelaide Award to The Bike Shed at Blackwood!
A group of retired men that get together and enjoy each other’s company, fellowship and to do something for the community. Run out of the Blackwood Uniting Church they provide safe and roadworthy bikes to refugees and disadvantaged people. This group recycle old and discarded bikes that anyone can come and buy, knowing they have a good bike and are supporting refugees, First Nations People and disadvantaged people. They also run workshops at local primary schools and in the Mitcham Council area, showing people how to maintain, adjust and care for their bikes.

106 Wheelchairs!
Another wheelchair has been purchased through our plastic bread tag recycling initiative "Play Tag with the Roadies."
Kagisho, who is eight years old, is pleased with his new wheels. He is from the Limpopo region in northern South Africa.
We have also saved 13 tonnes of plastic from going to landfill.
Keep collecting your plastic bread tags & bring them along to the Life FM Roadies each Monday or to the Life FM studios or find your nearest collection point through Bread Tags for Wheelchairs.

Life FM would like to thank everyone that took part in the very first Eternity Sunday on 14th July!
It was so exciting and inspiring to see the many posts displaying the chalk drawings of the word “Eternity” just like Arthur Stace did for 30 years. The many photos that circulated that day through social media with the hashtag and tagged Life FM also portrayed beautiful artwork complimenting the message. Imagine how many people viewed these displays either online or in person and were impacted and encouraged to consider their own eternity.

Across Australia, 3000 people are expected to reach out to homeless services, such as Mission Australia, in the next hour. Around 122,000 people are experiencing homelessness, 94% of those people are part of what is known as hidden homelessness. Hidden Homelessness can be couch surfing, sleeping in the car and living in temporary homes with friends or family.

Hearing these numbers can feel overwhelming. Mission Australia, however, are unswerving in their passion to serve the needs of these Australians, moving each one towards independence.

Mission Australia stand with individuals and families across the country to provide practical support, find suitable housing and target the main known causes of homelessness in a bid to prevent more people facing a night without a safe home.

You can join us to raise awareness, by nominating someone in your life, for the Stand Together Award, who has stood alongside, you as you faced a challenging time.
