Adelaide Fringe has revealed its 2025 program with more than 1,300 shows across comedy, theatre, cabaret, music, visual arts, interactive experiences and more. Spread across 500 venues throughout South Australia, this year’s program invites audiences from near and far to immerse themselves in the iconic festival’s spirit of creativity, accessibility, and innovation.

Heather Croall AM, Adelaide Fringe Director and CEO, said, “Adelaide Fringe is an invitation to explore South Australia through the eyes of the local and international artists who make this event so unique. This year, we’re seeing some much-loved artists and venues return, alongside new talent and experiences that truly reflect the diversity and spirit of Fringe. I encourage everyone to check out nearby shows in their own suburb, venture out to regional performances, and, if you’re visiting, take the time to explore the program and uncover some of the hidden shows and gems throughout our city and state.”

Returning festival hotspots, such as The Garden of Unearthly Delights and Gluttony, will once again transform Adelaide’s eastern parklands into an energetic gathering space for Fringe-goers. The West Village will host nearly 200 events across over thirty brick and mortar venues, including ILA, Adelaide College of the Arts , Nexus Arts, The Mercury and many more. This year also sees exciting expansions, with The Courtyard of Curiosities extending its programming into the State Library of South Australia and Migration Museum, offering audiences an intimate and imaginative experience in one of Adelaide’s most treasured venues. Meanwhile, Fool’s Paradise returns to Victoria Square, with a dynamic lineup of shows and performances set to make it a central attraction of the 2025 Fringe season.

There are over 100 events taking place in the regions of South Australia, from Coober Pedy to Kimba, Kangaroo Island and Coonawarra, illustrating that Fringe’s statewide program is truly accessible to everyone. A 2024 crowd favourite, Sleeps Hill Tunnel, is back by popular demand with an extended season. Set in the historic railway tunnel in Panorama, Sleeps Hill Tunnel promises another immersive journey as audiences venture underground for an experience that blends history, mystery and creativity in an unforgettable setting. The Dome is also back again, this time in the Dom Polski Centre, featuring eleven full dome experiences.

Ambassadors for 2025 are acclaimed First Nations singer-songwriter Nancy Bates, award-winning comedian and television personality Rhys Nicholson, performer and comedian Michelle Brasier, and renowned actress Teresa Palmer.

Rhys Nicholson said, “As an Australian performer who’s been doling out my wares in Adelaide for well over a decade, I’m buzzing with delight to be a Fringe Ambassador. I’ve always felt the Fringe is such a perfect encapsulation of what we do in Australian performing arts. A purely open festival where as long as you’ve got the gumption, creativity and sunscreen, you can find your audience. I’m just happy to be here.”

Teresa Palmer said, “I’m so excited to be an Adelaide Fringe Ambassador! Growing up in SA, the Fringe has always been such a special part of our community—a celebration of art, creativity, and connection that brings people together in the most wonderful way. I’ve always admired how the Fringe celebrates bold and unique voices, and I’m beyond excited to work with the festival this year to share its extraordinary magic with the world.”

Minister for Arts, Andrea Michaels MP, said, “Each year Adelaide Fringe draws people from around the world to South Australia to experience the best of arts and culture. As the biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, it not only showcases incredible talent but also drives significant economic and social benefits for our state. The Malinauskas Government is proud to support this extraordinary event that enriches our community, supports artists, and strengthens our reputation as a global arts destination.”

The 2025 Adelaide Fringe season will run from Friday 21 February to Sunday 23 March. Tickets are on sale now.

Community television (CTV) stations will receive access to $3 million over the next three years from the Albanese Government—the largest financial support in its history. This landmark investment highlights the vital role CTV plays in amplifying local voices, fostering cultural diversity, and nurturing emerging talent in Australia’s media landscape.

“This funding will ensure CTV can continue delivering essential local content, providing training opportunities for future media professionals, and transforming for a digital future,” said Joseph Matina, Chair of C31 Melbourne and Geelong.

Dr. Tom Young, Chair of Channel 44, added, “Community TV is a platform for uniquely Australian stories. This investment supports passionate creatives and strengthens the sector’s ability to connect with diverse communities.”

The future of CTV lies in innovation. The CTV+ streaming platform (ctvplus.org.au) already provides live access to both C31 and C44, on-demand access to over 150 programs and will soon expand with a smart TV app, launching in 2025. These developments ensure that community content remains accessible to both local and national audiences.

This $3 million boost is part of the Albanese Government’s $180.5 million media strategy, which supports public interest journalism, strengthens media diversity, and promotes sustainability in grassroots broadcasting.

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland MP said, “Local news and community broadcasting are at the heart of our communities. This funding ensures community TV continues to make a vital contribution to media diversity and national identity.”

We thank Minister Rowland, her team and the Federal Government for their commitment to grassroots media. This funding secures a sustainable future for CTV, enabling us to continue amplifying local voices, fostering creative talent, and telling the stories that matter most.

💙 FAREWELL ANDREI 💙 Last night we farewelled Andrei Gostin, who stepped down after six years on the C44 board. Andrei has been a rock of support for the C44 team during some tumultuous times for the station. Through our partnership with University of South Australia and Andrei's role there, he's also led the production of some of C44 viewers' favourite programs, including Our Time, the SA Sports Show, The Divide and, more recently, BTS with Jess and The Film Maker Studio.

From everyone at C44, thank you for your commitment to community TV, Andrei. We look forward to working with you still on exciting new projects at UniSA!

💙 FAREWELL ALBERT 💙 Last night we farewelled our much-loved and popular production manager Albert Jamae, who's moving onto a new and exciting role with Ochre Dawn. Albert has been an integral member of the C44 team, through many ups and downs over five years, with many personal achievements too, including (but certainly not limited to) the Antenna Award-winning doco The Art of Reconciliation with City Of Charles Sturt and City of Port Adelaide Enfield, series The Divide with University of South Australia, and most recently the documentary Every Body Dance with Mount Barker District Council, Community Living Australia, and Australian Dance Theatre. As well as many other productions, events and more. He's also been a great mentor to many volunteers and interns from University of South Australia and Flinders University, who have been able find their career path thanks to their experience with Albert and C44.

Thank you, Albert. You'll be greatly missed and we wish you all the success in your new role.

Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington AO, said The Film Maker Studio "stands out as an exceptional initiative in Work Integrated Learning. Through your partnership with Channel 44, students have gained authentic production experience while creating a professional TV series featuring South Australian industry leaders. The project's impact extends beyond its impressive output of four broadcast-quality episodes, embracing inclusivity through interdisciplinary collaboration between Film and Television and Interior Architecture students, and fostering diversity through thoughtful guest selection and leadership opportunities."

The Film Maker Studio takes screen buffs and aspiring screen makers behind the camera. In each episode, host Sid Christie interviews an Australian screen professional, including cinematographer David Gregan, colourist and online editor Jade Robinson, scenic artist Johnnie Haratzis and writer/director Vicki Sugars.

Sid explores not only how experienced these professionals got into the screen industry but how they stay up to date and maintain career momentum. They also share inspiring and relatable stories about how they once saved the show or created a look that we all remember.
