The UN-US should cease the unfair sanctions against the political and military perpetrators of Salvawar while leaving the causative elephants roaring in the palace.
The benevolent solution to address the South Sudanese' deleterious conflict is to deal with the causative elephants first instead of inequitably sanctioning its vulnerable shadowers.

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND REVOLUTIONARY APPOINTMENT TO ME.

A happy birthday and a revolutionary appointment to me and an inestimable appreciation goes to my Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the SPLM/A-IO-KITGWANG 1st Lt Gen Gatwech Dual Hoth for entrusting me to serve in this deputising role in our movement.

My second appreciation goes to my heroic colleagues in the SPLM-IO-KD missions, chapters, coordinations, veterans, youth, students and women league offices in diaspora in general and in Australia in particular for your patriotic leaderships which you had shown me during the course of our political consultation over the past few months.

I could not be in this revolutionary role today if it was not your equitable sagacity on all we had been through before we anchored here.

However, my interest is not just the beams of holding a title rather than thriving on the success of what was imposed on us by our former Duke.

I am very blissful that our leadership in the field made a significant recognition toward my revolutionary sacrifice.

Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly disbelieved that my former Chairman Dr Riäk Machar Teny-Dhurgon could offer me a "gatekeeping assignment" leave alone of appointing me into this ambassadoral service.

Thirdly, I thank those patriotic comrades, friends in different parties and relatives who congratulated me as well as the incoming ones for showing supports on my new role in our movement.

Fourthly, I would like to thank you my Koch County members in Australia, North America, North and East Africa and in Koch Centre for your direct and indirect supports you showered on me during my decision to support the Kitgwang Declaration under the Chuäny as well as in this current appointment.

Lastly, I will do what I can in my proficient capacity to mushroom the services of our revolutionary movement along with our able Representative in Australia.

Aprikan leaders have never mind to read when it comes to this embarrassing criticism. They are only good at dictatorial and ethnic politics which has been dividing their respective citizens for almost a century. They will soon regret.

This is a realistic statement, Gatran, Bidit Liech Riek.
Less we forget.

May their innocent souls rest in peace.

"The Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) had committed genocide against the people of South Sudan in 1985,1986, 1987 in Eastern Jikany Nuer.

The same Splm/A also committed genocide against the people of South Sudan in Dinka Bor and Lou Nuer Areas in 1991 as well.

In this month December 15/2013 another genocide also was committed by the regime in Juba against the people of South Sudan again in the capital city and others States as well.

We will never forget you and those criminal will one day face justice

In order to prevent another killing or atrocities against the South Sudanese people by the regime in Juba. We must act and stop the regime by any means and therefore, president Salva Kirr and his group must go. "

The warning signs are there for genocide in Ethiopia – the world must act to prevent it.

The country has been scarred by violence on all sides, but there may be much worse to come as Tigrayan civilians are targeted

Genocide happens when warning signs are not heeded. The world looks away, refusing to believe that mass ethnic killing is possible. We hope that the worst will be avoided. But to prevent genocide, we must sound the alarm before we arrive at certainty.
Rarely before has the danger of genocide been so clearly signalled in advance than in.

No one is angelic in Ethiopia’s conflict have committed violations. But only one side has committed violations on a scale and nature that could credibly qualify as genocide – and that, we regret to say, is the coalition of the Ethiopian government, under the prime minister, Abiy Ahmed; the Amhara regional government; and the state of Eritrea.
Twice in the past year, the world has stood by while this coalition has perpetrated international crimes against civilians of Tigrayan identity – including murder, r**e, torture and starvation.
We may now be facing a third atrocity, even larger and bloodier than what has gone before: a possible mass killing of interned civilians in Addis Ababa and elsewhere.

Five warning signs for mass, ethnically targeted violence are flashing red.

In recent weeks the government has interned more than 30,000 ethnic Tigrayan civilians in Addis Ababa

First, figures in the Ethiopian government and their allies have promoted hate speech against Tigrayan people as an ethnic group. They have stoked violence in language that identifies all Tigrayans as enemies. This hate speech is escalating – Tigrayans have been referred to as “cancer”, “weeds”, “rats” and “terrorists”.
Second, the government has mobilised the instruments for mass atrocity, in the form of militias and vigilante groups, organised on an ethnic basis and with an ethnic agenda. It has armed them and granted them impunity.
Third, the government is eliminating any middle ground. It has independent and critical voices. It has prevented media access to Tigray, closed down or censored independent national journalists, and intimidated foreign reporters and their local counterparts. Individuals who try to protect Tigrayans are also attacked. People who try to remain out of politics are condemned as “fence-sitters”.

Fourth, the government has begun large-scale in areas it controls. One year ago it interned at least 15,000 ethnic Tigrayan members of the armed forces, whom, we understand, it continues to keep in detention camps. It has interned Tigrayan civilians in western Tigray. In recent weeks it has interned more than 30,000 ethnic Tigrayan civilians in Addis Ababa and unknown numbers elsewhere.
Fifth, the international community is divided, confused and indecisive. The government has protectors at the UN security council. The African Union listened deferentially to the government’s denials and obfuscations. The main European powers have dithered. The US has toned down its condemnations, perhaps for fear of being diplomatically isolated. It also has conflicting priorities, including trying to facilitate humanitarian assistance and initiate negotiations for a ceasefire and political settlement – an agenda that can preclude calling out one party to the conflict for atrocity crimes or genocide.

In the 1990s, after mass atrocities in former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, there was renewed interest in the obligation to prevent genocide enshrined in the 1948 genocide convention. There have now been more than two decades of policy and institutional reforms on atrocities prevention and response. There has been a litany of mea culpas, of enjoinders to greater political will, and calls for “never again”.

There’s a brutal conflict in Ethiopia. My family there ask: why does no one hear us?

Crucial reports were written in the decades after Rwanda and the wars of Yugoslavia’s dissolution that shaped the debate and policy over the use of coercive measures in pursuit of peace, humanitarian action and the prevention of atrocities.

At the African Union, international expert commissions, and under the leadership of powerful countries – reams of paper were dedicated to analysing the past and pledging to heed warning signs and prevent genocide.
Those reports all stressed that genocide is preventable – if the political will is there to act on warnings.
Today in Ethiopia, these warnings could not be more clear. The time to act is now – to call out what is happening and for the UN security council to use every measure at its disposal to give meaning to the cry of “never again” and prevent catastrophe.

Helen Clark is a former head of the UN Development Programme and former prime minister of New Zealand. Fr Michael Lapsley is president of Healing of Memories Global Network and founder of the Institute for Healing of Memories. David Alton is an independent crossbench life peer and campaigner on genocide"

President Kiir blames FVP Machar for delayments in graduation of unified forces

"November 18, 2021 — While addressing outstanding issues to the delegation of the United Nations Security Council today in Juba, president Salva Kiir blamed the First Vice President and leader of the main armed opposition, Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, for delaying the implementation of security arrangement.

President Salva Kiir speaking to members of the United Nations Security Council in Juba on November 18, 2021.

In response to critical questions raised by the UNSC delegation, president Salva Kiir claimed that he has given clear instructions to his subordinates and heads of opposition parties on what needs to be done to graduate the unified forces but the First Vice President failed to meet his obligations.

According to president Kiir, he requested Dr. Machar to scale down his forces and submit a reasonable list that fits the size of his forces but the First Vice President has failed to do so.

Kiir promised to track down Machar through the meeting of the presidency to discuss and resolve this issue.

“H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit said he requested his First Deputy Dr Riek Machar Teny to align the ranks of his soldiers according to the size of his force and up to now he has not got the feedback but he is waiting to discuss the subject matter in the next Presidency meeting on the progress in order to establish unified command.” Reads part of the statement from J1.

In addition to lack of cooperation from other parties, president Kiir said the forces are ready in the cantonment but they can’t be graduated without weapons.

“H.E. president Salva Kiir Mayardit also told the UN delegation that the forces are trained and are in the cantonment sites ready for the graduation but there are challenges hindering the graduation of the unified forces, no basic equipment that makes a soldier complete as a soldier but he has already given instructions for his team to arrange and organise the graduation process of the unified force.” J1 said.

The today’s meeting presented a grand opportunity for president Kiir to persuade the UNSC to lift arms embargos on South Sudan; however, the UNSC strictly promised to consider lifting arms embargos and sanctions in May next years as long as South Sudan implements the peace agreement and good reports reach the UNSC table before May, 2022.

While the two parties agreed to disagree, President Kiir promised to implement the peace agreement but urged the UNSC not to collect their reports from “sources that have no base and not accurate”.

“H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit told the UN delegation not to rely on the information about South Sudan from the sources that have no base and not accurate but rather seek information about the nation from the right channels in order to make right decisions, otherwise, they will continue to make wrong decisions based on the wrong information given to them about South Sudan from the wrong channels.” Said the press secretary in the office of the president. UN says 16 local staff detained in Ethiopia’s capital

UN says ‘actively working’ with federal government to secure release of Ethiopian staff, says ‘no explanation’ given for detentions.

A UN spokesperson said the UN had submitted a request to Ethiopia's foreign ministry to immediately release those detained in Addis Ababa [Tiksa Negeri/Reuters]

The United Nations has said 16 of its Ethiopian staff have been detained in the country’s capital, Addis Ababa, with six others having been released.

Speaking to reporters in New York on Tuesday, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the world body was “actively working” with the Ethiopian government to secure the immediate release of those who were still in detention.

“There has been, as far as I know, no explanation given to us on why these staff members are detained,” he added, noting that UN security officials have visited the detained staff, all Ethiopian nationals working for various UN agencies.

There was no immediate comment by the Ethiopian government, which has been battling forces from the northern Tigray region for a year.

Tensions between Ethiopia’s government and the UN have been high throughout the war, which according to estimates by the world body has pushed hundreds of thousands into famine-like conditions.

In late September, the government had ordered the expulsion of seven senior UN officials from the country for “meddling” in its internal affairs.

US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said Washington is aware of reports about the detentions and finds them “concerning”.

UN says ‘actively working’ with gov’t to secure release of Ethiopian staff, says ‘no explanation’ given for detentions.
