The first episode of Stroke of Luck is live!!!

We met JC Pride on April 21, 2022 when Elle Holiday brought him in to visit Songbird Society as a potential place to record his first song.

Despite suffering a massive stroke that almost ended his life, JC was the most disciplined and emotionally expressive firecracker we had ever met.

His drive and work ethic blew us out of the water, and we soon became members of his team, working with him on all things branding, songwriting, recording, production, and artist development.

Last year, it was clear that JC was ready to begin sharing his story with the world, so with the help of Emma Schlueter & Image/92, we created a short-form series to do just that.

LGBTQIA+ songwriters, producers and artists are invited to apply for the first ever Pride SongHubs, presented as APRA AMCOS's flagship event SongHubs The Tower, a unique event curated by two of the industry's q***r heavy hitters: Troye Sivan & Lucas Keller (Milk & Honey).

SongHubs are short intensive songwriting camps that bring together selected APRA AMCOS members and renowned international songwriters and producers to create new hits.

Submissions close 5pm AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) Monday 16 January. All submissions will be evaluated by SongHubs curators. Successful applicants will be advised by COB AEDT Friday 30 January.

These types of comments happen all the time. You logically know that you should continue through you life completely unbothered, but somehow the words lodge themselves into your brain like a wildly irritating splinter. The echoing question?

Difficult truth bomb alert!! If your attention to detail and drive for high achievement begins to destroy your self-esteem, productivity, and desire to do more... you're no longer dealing with high standards; you're dealing with perfectionism.⁠⁠

Researcher and author Brené Brown has an entire book on the subject of perfectionism called The Gifts of Imperfection, and in it, she so eloquently says:⁠⁠ “Perfectionism is not the same thing has striving to be your best. Perfectionism is the belief that if we live perfect, look perfect, and act perfect, we can minimize or avoid the pain of blame, judgement, and shame. It’s a shield. It’s a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from flight.”⁠⁠
