Having a family night- last night. Enjoying a meal, the football & each other's company

Family Night Out: Chaos, Chips & Cheers! 🍟🏉🍦

There’s something magic about a good ol’ family night out — even if it starts with five outfit changes, one missing shoe, and a meltdown over who gets the front seat (and that’s just the parents).

We finally made it to the local pub — the kind with big screens, warm chips, and a vibe that screams "footy, food, and forget the dishes." We grabbed a table right in front of the TV like we owned the place. The kids had their eyes on the ice cream menu, while Dad and I had our eyes on the score.

Dinner was loud, delicious, and messy. Burgers were devoured. Chips were stolen off each other’s plates. At one point, our toddler used her chicken nugget as a microphone to sing the pub's background music. Applause from strangers? You bet.

And just as the game hit halftime, the kids got their reward — double scoops of ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. It was sticky, it was chaotic, and it ended with more sugar than sense, but honestly… we laughed the whole way through.

The night finished with tired kids, happy hearts, and a promise to do it all again — once we recover.

10/10 would recommend: family, food, footy, and full bellies.

Saturdays are for shopping, soul food, and slightly regrettable spice levels.

It all starts with the sacred Saturday shopping date — you know, the kind where you tell yourself, “I’m only getting the essentials,” and somehow end up with glittery pens, 3 candles you’ll never light, and a face mask that promises to “awaken your inner goddess.” Victory.

Then comes the food — because nothing says high-class retail therapy like a stop at McDonald’s. Fries are inhaled, nuggets are fought over like they're gold, and someone always spills sweet & sour sauce on their shirt. But we press on… to the spicy noodles. We said we could handle it. We lied. Foreheads are sweating, mouths are on fire, and someone’s dramatically gasping like they just ran a marathon — but no one stops eating.

And just when you think you can’t take another bite, there it is: the glorious reward. A slice of rich, indulgent German cake (because we earned it), and a steaming cup of hot coffee that brings you back to life. It's the perfect ending to a perfectly chaotic day. Shopping bags full, bellies fuller, and hearts the fullest.
