we mourn Hans HAUNA Falb who has left us on 26th of december. he was the the visionary founder of the Konfrontationen Festival in Nickelsdorf, bringing far out avantgarde music (plus great food!) to the small austrian bordertown since the early 80s. he always had a big open heart for music and invited musicians he loved no matter what difficulty or price - i deeply admired his absolute f**k-it-we do it attitude - not easy businesswise but nevertheless always put the art above the budget!
we drove there in the 90s with our indie bands , for instance Snakkerdu Densk, afterwards slept drunk somewhere in the hungarian fields, later saw a crazy Fenn O'berg gig (Fennesz, O'Rourke, Rehberg) while most of the - few remaining - Jazzheads ran away from that "horrible electronic noise", till we kind of got regulars at the summer-festival where always some friends and/or trost artist were playing... then later we produced and released together a wonderful extensive Sun Ra happening from Nickelsdorf - we always talked about and planned to release some more documentary records of exceptional Konfrontationen releases. Unfortunately they never happened but it was always a very good reason to have a whisky together... adieu
