New Album with music by Georges Lentz!!
This album presents a 70-minute journey through the ethereal soundscape of Georges Lentz’s String Quartet(s), derived from the 43-hour fixed media composition played continuously in the Cobar Sound Chapel. Located in the Australian outback, this collaboration of architecture, music and indigenous art transforms a forgotten water tank into a meditative sanctuary. Performed by The Noise, Lentz’s layered sonic spaces evoke the vastness of the night sky, blending moments of raw noise with quiet beauty. An intricate interplay of space, time and texture, this album offers a deeply immersive experience – both grounded in reality and reaching for the transcendent.

On 22 December, we celebrate the 150th birthday of Franz Schmidt, one of the last great Romantics. His work, characterised by deep faith and emotional intensity, culminates in his monumental oratorio The book with 7 Seals. This work, inspired by the Book of Revelation, was premiered in Vienna in 1938 and is now considered a timeless masterpiece. His four symphonies are equally moving, especially the Symphony No. 4 in C major, a poignant musical legacy that he dedicated to his deceased daughter.

Today, the Franz Schmidt Music School Perchtoldsdorf is organising a celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth.
