🎛️ The biggest motivation for me is to connect with people and help dem achieve their sound. Reggae and dub are genres that have so much to offer and so many good artists.

🇯🇲 I wanna share some DIY recording tips for bands 🇯🇲

🎛️ I know that recording your own music can be an empowering experience, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure your tracks sound professional. 🎛️

🎚️ Please record clean and dry! The cleaner your recordings, the better the final product.
Think of it as setting the perfect foundation: if your raw tracks are cluttered with reverberations, too much saturation or unwanted sounds, it makes things harder in the production process.

🎚️ More editing is necessary and therefore more intervention.
Use high resolution mics, keep your levels balanced (rather more quiet then loud), and aim for clear takes.

🎛️ Mixing: After recording, mixing is where a lot happens! This is why it's so important to work with a skilled mixing engineer. Even the cleanest tracks still need to be balanced and enhanced.

🎛️ A good engineer knows how to work with his tools so everything sits just right in the mix.

🎛️ Im my opinion your music deserves the best. Whether you’re going DIY or getting professional help, keep those recordings clean and let an expert bring it all together in the mix.

🇯🇲 Why is good groove such a mood booster? :) 🇯🇲

🎛 I don’t know about you guys but for me groove is so important, especially in reggaemusic or dub.

🇯🇲 I also think that it’s a universal language; everyone can feel it. Some more, some less in fact! ;) But it’s essential.

🎛 As an engineer beeing specialized in a genre where groove is important it’s crucial to preserve that with the tools I am working with. Cause it's the backbone and the hearth of the riddim section.

🇯🇲Why is dubbing with haptic faders special? 🇯🇲

🎛 Activating and muting tracks like this is a special way of doing an arrangement of a song.

🎛 Just as a musician that has his groove and own way of playing things moving a fader can be done.

🇯🇲 Bringing in the drums or a vocal into a new part of the song can also be „laid back“ or a new rhythmic element that has not been there before in the original version 🇯🇲

Thats why every move done by the engineer has its own vibe and characteristics. And thats why I like it so much! :)

🎛 What analog stuff are you using for your productions? I need some recommendations on what to buy next haha! :)

🎛 I love phaser and tape saturation so I might go with the saturators of sound skulpter. Do you guys have any tipps on a good phaser?

🇯🇲Clean & punchy -> Thats how I would describe our sound. 🇯🇲

🎛 Clean: Not a lot saturation and analogue vibes, but clean a la modern roots reggae.

🎛 Punchy: punchy especially when it comes to drums and bass and the riddim-section. Not round but in your face and a bit harsh sometimes.

🇯🇲 Clean and transparent tools and equipment help us with that. BigUps to RME! 🇯🇲

🇯🇲 Always keep your profiles up to date! 🇯🇲

🎛 Recently I am diving more and more into some cool reggae-guitar tones with this kemper profiler.

🇯🇲 You really have everything in there be it a Jazz Chorus, Vox AC 30 or a Fender Twin. From my experience not every profile sounds good but if you search around a bit there is very usable stuff for sure. If you guys are a bit unsure about your tone or need some reamping DM us, I am always open for learning new stuff!

🇯🇲A few words on why I think reggae is special 🇯🇲 🎛 Culture: Reggae is deeply rooted in jamaican and african history, carrying messages of resilience and unity. 🎛 Powerful Messages: Reggae lyrics often speak of something like peace, social justice, making it music with a purpose and deeper meaning. Thats why I personally like it a lot. 🎛 Groove and feel: I think dub and reggae is a lot about groove and human feel. Thats why it’s often difficult to program it. 🇯🇲 I think it’s essential for an engineer to understand all of these things and also feel that if he wants to provide a good mix. It’s really not just about technical stuff and requirements. It’s much much more I think 🇯🇲 Anyway, let’s celebrate some good music people and friends. Our genre has so much to offer. BigUps!
