Außerdem in Ausgabe 70: Wir stellen 50 Alben zwischen Jazz, Soul, Funk und Classic Rock vor, die in der Geschichte des HipHop häufig gesampelt wurden. Daneben fassen wir die wichtigsten Ergebnisse der ersten Studie zur CO2-Bilanz zusammen – mit erstaunlichen Erkenntnissen – und sprechen mit einem Louis-Armstrong-Experten über das Werk und Erbe des Jazz-Pioniers und dessen Plattensammlung.

In der Master Class befasst sich Frank Wonneberg mit dem fast vergessenen Reggae- und Dub-Meilenstein Dread In A Babylon von U-Roy. Zudem beleuchten wir die Hintergründe zum Cover des dritten King-Crimson-Albums Lizard, gezeichnet von der britischen Künstlerin Gini Barris. Im Soundtrack Of My Life wiederum präsentiert uns Steppenwolf-Frontmann John Kay mit dem Blues-Klassiker „Howlin’ Wolf“ von Howlin’ Wolf sein Lieblingsalbum, dass für ihn ein Tor in eine andere Welt darstellt. Dazu kommen über 100 Vinyl-Reviews, HiFi-Tests zu Plattenspieler, Kompaktlautsprecher und Tonabnehmer und vieles mehr.

Last night, I was lucky enough to catch these guys from Wellington who were playing support for the Brant Björk Trio at the Viper Room in Vienna. Wow, so good!!! Can't wait for the new album. Er, I'm pretty sure it wasn't for sale at the merch stand, or was it? Maybe it was already sold out? Anyway, check them out whenever you have the chance.

Zelle Records? Zelle Records!

Zelle Records is a Kiwi music label operating from an old desk in a lounge in Vienna, Austria. We aim to make available flabbergasting alternative rock and pop music from Dunedin and elsewhere in New Zealand on vinyl. Many wonderful musicians, famous, semi-famous or utterly, yet unrightfully obscure, have been sitting on tons of unpublished material for ages, or they have only put out downloads or CD’s so far, or they just haven’t found the right label yet to make a vinyl record with. We want to change that.

We release limited editions of 7″, 10″ or 12″ records, in superb quality and in small runs of only 200-300 copies. The majority of our records is made available to the record buying public in NZ in close cooperation with our partner label Powertool Records, Auckland, while about 1/4 of each run is sold internationally, to music lovers in Europe, America and worldwide.
