[FIXTURE] Round 22 begun and the Northern Derby awaits.

• New leaders Hajduk must travel to P**a to face a positive Istra that searches to destroy their bad record against the Bili while Dinamo welcomes Gorica. A Goričani side that knows already that they can’t go 10th this weekend, something fresh this season.
• We have two big matches on Sunday. While some may argue that a game like Osijek and Rijeka is more important, I’m more of a derby games and the Northern Derby opens the last day of the Round. Two teams that are on form and know that a win could put them towards 5th place or, if the Bumbari win, a big point difference between each other.

[STANDINGS] Rijeka falls down as Hajduk is the new leader!

• After an incredible Derby della Učka, the Riječani couldn’t beat their closest rival and failed to hold the lead. Hajduk did its job on a hard match against Varaždin while Dinamo lurks from behind.
• Osijek also lost! Slaven managed to hold Mudražija’s fury (although the newest father of the league netted one for the Lokosi Čestitamo! ) And Gorica’s win leaves Šibenik as the bottom team.

[FIXTURE] Derby della Učka upcoming.

• Dinamo is currently winning against Šibenik, in the opener of Round 21, but the derby is the most important match this weekend, since a win for Istra could mean a change of the top.
• Hajduk welcomes Varaždin in Split and Osijek travels towards Velika Gorica searching getting closer to the podium.

[STANDINGS] Crazy weekend for us!

• When was the last time that all the Top 3 teams lost!? Rijeka lost for the first time of the season against an incredible tough Varaždin, and they also had 2 players sent off! An amazing Mudražija finished off another great team when Lokomotiva beat Hajduk (amazing match), while Dinamo lost in Osijek after beating Milan in Champions League!
• The other 2 results where draws that didn’t change anything in the lower table.

[FIXTURE] Croatia welcomes the 20th Round of the league.

• Istra and Gorica start the Round with the spicy element of Erceg starting with the Goričani.
• The leaders close Saturday with a hard match against Varaždin. The Bumbari are fighting for the last place of European football and a win at home can be crucial for them.
• The most expected game of the weekend will be played between Osijek and Dinamo at Opus Arena. The Plavi reaches the stage with a big win against Milan and they want to get closer to Rijeka.

[CHAMPIONSLEAGUE] Modri fans, put your heads up, you deserve it.

When Dinamo started this campaign losing 9-2 against Bayern, many experts jumped to the conclusion that the Croatian champions couldn’t compete against the best, but we knew it was just a misstep.
The Plavi started like always, slow and thinking about the rival biggest problems, and in the 19th minute of the First Half, Baturina took advantage of Gabbia’s mistake to score the opener.
Martin proceed to make a few key chances but either Kulenovic was offside, or Stojkovic couldn’t score. At the end of the 45 minutes, Yunus Musah got sent off after a tackle against Luka when he was close to enter the big box.
The Second half was different in the beginning but we saw a serious Dinamo. Milan started with strength knowing that they had to win to secure Top 8 position, and Christian Pulišić scored the equalizer. After a good play, Pierre-Gabriel sent a pass towards Pjaca and Marko netted the winner goal.
Sadly, City won, Brugge didn’t lose by more goals and Sporting Clube draw against Bologna, thus leaving Dinamo in the 25th position, and out of the Playoff Round. But what an adventure for the Croatian Champion.

[STANDINGS] HNL returned from the Winter Break with draws.

• Other than Rijeka and Dinamo, the rest of the clubs shared points. This helped the Plavi getting closer to Hajduk and leaving Osijek behind.
• In the lower parts, Šibenik and Gorica got a point from the difference towards Lokosi and Istra, both teams suffered heavy defeats.

Round 20 starts next week, as usual, between Friday and Sunday.

[REVIEW] Osijek failed to beat Šibenik one more time.

• HNL is back! And another disappointing result against the coastal side.
• Arnel Jakupović scored a brace for the home team, but former Osiječanin Ivan Santini and Ivan Laća secured a huge point for the Narančasti’s hopes of salvation.
• Roberto Punčec got sent off after a second yellow card trying to stop Matković.
• Vidović’s club now separates themselves from Gorica by 2 points, while Osijek failed to win for the 3rd consecutive match.

[FIXTURE] HNL is back!

• Today marks the beginning of 2025 for the Croatian top division and all the top 4 teams will welcome a team from the lower part of the table.
• In terms of signings, the league hasn’t lost much of its caliber, although you could challenge that Elias Fillet will be a loss for Istra, while yeah, Michele Šego and Niko Galešić did leave their teams, moving on to Hajduk and Dinamo respectably.
• Leonardo Sigali and Mile Škorić return to the country after their spells in Argentina and China and their experience will be needed in Lokomotiva and Rijeka.
• The Plavi decided to bring another striker knowing that Petković won’t be ready for the first games and their choice was Wilfried Kanga from Ivory Coast. He played for Country in the English Second Division and couldn’t score in 15 games, we hope for him, better stats in this Dinamo tenure.
• Duje Čop is also moving as he will likely leave the Lokosi before the end of the Winter Market.

[CHAMPIONSLEAGUE] Dinamo broke under pressure and suffered a heavy defeat.

• Paolo’s beginning with the national champion couldn’t be sadder. Conceding in the first 2 minutes a goal that curved the game towards the home side placed the Plavi in an all-defense mentality that saw its best football in the final minutes of the First Half.
• Dinamo was never a serious contender for at least return to Zagreb with a point, and I don’t blame the Manager or the players alone. HNS should have started the league 2 weeks earlier to help Dinamo get into competitive form so this wasn’t the first real match ahead of 2025.
• Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Martin Ødegaard where the Gunner scorers of the 7th Round in this new League Stage.
• Dinamo now needs a win a wait for some positive to dream qualification.

[GOALSCORERS] Welcome to the best strikers of 2024!

What a year for Duje Čop! The Lokosi N°9 beat the odds and claimed the title of the best goalscorer of last year with a good 18 goals spread throughout the solar calendar.

Sandro Kulenović improved once again and managed to be the main striker for the Plavi in 2024 while Marko Livaja’s crippled first half didn’t stop him to be the present top scorer of this season.

Outside the podium, Ramón Miérez appears even when he is scoring goals in the UAE with 12 goals in the first half. Robert Mudražija also helped Lokomotiva with goals while Marko Pjaca is the sole two-team player in the top 10. Together with Marko, Bruno Petković and former Dinamo, Niko Janković have 8 goals. Drawing with 7, Veldin Hodža and Aleksandar Trajkovski.

The clubs with the most players scoring at least 1 goal are Slaven (22 players), Dinamo (20) and Hajduk and Rijeka (17).

[REVIEW] The final round of the year happened, and the leaders served themselves.

All three leaders managed to win their respective games and continue to separate from the other clubs.

• Rijeka and Hajduk won last Sunday against Slaven and Šibenik (Dalmatian Derby). The Bili had a tough time fighting the Narančasti even when the local side had two players less than Hajduk, while Rijeka couldn’t break the Farmaceuti in the first half, only finding precision in the final third of the game.
• Dinamo’s struggle with Varaždin was emotional. Their first win since the beginning of November came with two own-goals, mistakes, and late goals. Bjelica finally has some peace and can dream about Arsenal in January.
• Another team that looks to be resting happily is Lokomotiva. The Lokosi suffered throughout the first half of the season but lately got two consecutive wins that put them out of danger, for now... An incredible 4-1 victory over Gorica at Gradski Stadion with Mudražija scoring a hat trick in the final 10 minutes was enough to celebrate.
• Osijek and Istra drew at Opus Arena, and the incredible news of the departure of Tramezzani in favor of the re-entry of Gonzalo García hit P**a a few days after this game. The Zeleno-Žuti couldn’t hold a two-goal lead, and despite a four-match unbeaten streak, it seems that this was the final straw for the Italian coach.

The season will return in late January with Dinamo playing their final Champions League’s league stage match before Round 19.

[REVIEW] Lokomotiva demolished Gorica 4-1.

When you have a new team that’s ready for HNL (Šibenik) and they disrupt the peace of the Lower 5, you have this amazing season where everyone can get relegated.

• Lokomotiva was a complete beast today at Velika Gorica’s Gradski Stadion and they left the immediate relegation menace.
• Robert Mudražija scored the fastest ever hat trick of HNL and is now one of the best goalscorers of the season. Duje Čop opened the scoresheet and Jurica Pršir momentarily equalized the game.
• Banić suffered a terrible afternoon.

[FIXTURE] The final round of the year is here!

We finally reach the end of the year and everyone is playing for something.

• Leaders Rijeka must play against a rejuvenated Slaven, who, after suffering a horrible beginning of the season, now appear to have finally found their pace.
• Hajduk has the difficult task of traveling to Šibenik for a new edition of the Dalmatian Derby. A turbulent present for the Narančasti should be manageable for Gattuso’s side.
• Dinamo is suffering. Bjelica was confirmed as the Manager of the Plavi when they lost to Lokomotiva, but how long can he hold on in the current situation? Varaždin knows that a win at Maksimir will propel them to 3rd place; can they do it?
• Osijek and Istra are two teams that play good football, and a match between them is bound to be exciting. We expect nothing but goals or big moments from the round opener.
• The Lokosi managed to conquer Zagreb in what should be the last Kranjčevićeva match. Can they repeat this in Velika Gorica? The Goričani have fallen into the relegation zone again and urgently need a win.

[STANDINGS] Changes in relegation, stalemate in the front.

• Hajduk and Rijeka shared points in the newest edition of the Adriatic Derby and both got a point away from a falling Dinamo, that now shares 3rd place with Osijek and Varaždin.
• Slaven got 3 huge points against Gorica and sent them to the last position of the leaderboard as the Lokosi did the same in the last Zagrebački Derby of the Kranjčevićeva.

The final Round of 2024 will start on Friday and end on Sunday.

[FIXTURE] We are reaching the end of the year, and the fight for 1st place continues.

Slaven and Gorica will open the 17th Round while the Adriatic Derby will close it, in between, the Zagrebački Derby will be played on Saturday’s 1st game. Varaždin and Osijek’s match will show us the new 4th place while Istra can get away from relegation with a win hosting Šibenik.

[CHAMPIONSLEAGUE] Dinamo drew with Celtic and the European spring dream continues.

• The Plavi fought with the Scottish powerhouse with a few soldiers down due to injuries but still managed to earn a point.
• Bjelica sent Pjaca as starter maybe trying to repeat Marko’s performance 10 years ago, but sadly the team didn’t produce as many offensive situations to score. Up until the end, where an on target header was his final play of the night.
• Both defensive lines played great and neither keeper had many responsibilities.
• Celtic and Dinamo held their playoff positions and they are marching ahead, thinking in spring.

• Rijeka surpassed Hajduk thanks to their bigger goal difference and reached the top once again.
• Osijek joins Varaždin AND Dinamo in the fight for 3rd place.
• Gorica spiced the relegation group as their win sent Lokomotiva and Šibenik a place down.
