The St. Maarten Youth Brigade assembled several members last Sunday to assist Firefighters, Police, VKS, Ambulance workers with the search of a man who was lost in the Pointe Blanche hills. The young members have been training to assist law enforcement when neccessary and managed to clear the path and find the man who was trapped between the trenches. Police commended all law enforcement officers for their quick response. The youth Brigade encourages youngsters to join the organization as they find different ways to contribute to the betterment of the society.
Man drowns at Kimsha Beach 12-2-18
A tourist drowned on Kimsha Beach Sunday afternoon. The Daily Herald understands that the man was not showing any signs of movement while in the water. A number of beach goers rushed to the man and brought him to shore. They performed CPR on him while Ambulance paramedics were called to the beach. He was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. Police Spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said the man did not make it and passed away at the hospital.
Guests and workers of Caribbean Cinemas were evacuated after a small fire was detected in one of the breaker rooms on Saturday evening. The Fire Department and Police were notified of the incident and arrived on time to extinguish the fire before spreading throughout the building. No injuries were reported during the incident. The movies will be closed until the smoke clears up. Management informed the Daily Herald that they will reopen on Sunday December 2.

Dutch-French side operation in Grand Case
The Police Force of St. Maarten and Gendarmes conducted a operation in Sandy Ground on Monday, November 19 in the afternoon hours. Both organizations remain tight lipped about the action. Several house searches were conducted by both law enforcement agencies.
Police are investigating a incident which took place on Tuesday at Beach Plaza casino. From camera footage sent to The Daily Herald a man was attacked by a group of men at the casino. Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said no official complaint has been filed by the casino however detectives contacted to business for more information about the incident and are looking into the fight which took place on Tuesday.
Gendarmes have retrieved the body of a man floating in the water off Coralita Beach, near Oyster Pond. The discovery was made at around 1:00pm Tuesday when a passer-by reported the sighting to the Gendarmerie.
Lt. Colonel Sébastien Manzoni confirmed the body was a man of black or Antillean origin. For now, the incident is being treated as a suspected drowning. Manzoni said it was too early to say if a crime had been committed. An investigation has been opened into the death of the man.

Motorists requested to remain off the road network due to street flooding
GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – The Fire Department is requesting motorists to remain off the road network due to heavy street flooding.
Motorists who are already on the road should avoid driving in low lying areas.
Those driving along hill-side roads should drive with caution and be on alert for possible rock slides.
For those considering going out, it is advised to stay off the road network until weather conditions improve.
Please take note that it will take a couple of hours before street flooding subsides as the water flows into drains and other waterways.
