The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan continues to disseminate disinformation.
The release from the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan alleging that on April 9, at 10:40 a.m., the units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired upon Azerbaijani combat positions in the eastern border zone, does not align with the facts.

The statement of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan that on April 8th, between 11:35 p.m. and 11:45 p.m., the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia opened fire toward Azerbaijani combat positions in the southeastern part of the border doesn’t correspond to reality.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia reports that on April 8th, at 10:50 p.m., the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces initiated fire towards the positions of the Armenian Armed Forces in the vicinity of Aravus (Syunik Province) and at 10:55 p.m. in Khoznavar (Syunik Province).

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan continues to spread disinformation.

The statement of the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan that the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia opened fire towards Azerbaijani combat positions in the southwestern part of the border at 5:15 p.m. on April 7th doesn’t correspond to reality.

07/04/2024

On the night of April 6th and April 7th, the units of the armed forces of Azerbaijan opened fire on April 6th between 22:45 and 00:25 near Khoznavar (Syunik Province), at 22:45-00:48 near Aravus (Syunik Province), and on April 7th at 02:20 in Sotk (Gegharkunik Province), targeting the combat positions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia informs that the Azerbaijani MoD has disseminated another false statement: On April 6th, between 18:30 and 22:05, the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia did not open fire towards the Azerbaijani combat positions located in the eastern and southeastern parts of the border.

The provocative actions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the night of April 5-6 have no excuse. By opening irregular fire on numerous sections of the border and moving dozens of military vehicles, Azerbaijan has clearly pursued a provocative goal: to incite the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia to take countermeasures in order to obtain facts that would “substantiate” the recent Azerbaijani disinformation.
After assessing the situation, the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia did not take any actions leading to further escalation, and the situation along the border calmed down.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia reaffirms that Armenia is not interested in escalating the situation in the region and calls on Azerbaijan to stop actions aimed at such an escalation.
We also consider Azerbaijan’s assessments on the creation of defence structures on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia unjustified since reforms in the army and army infrastructure is the sovereign right of any country. At the same time, we would like to remind that the proposals of the Republic of Armenia for a mirror withdrawal of troops from the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border, the creation of mutual arms control mechanisms, the signing of a non-aggression pact and the demilitarization of territories adjacent to the state border remain unanswered.
The accusations against Armenia regarding the acquisition of weapons for defence purposes are also not understandable as Azerbaijan acquires many times more weapons than the Republic of Armenia, and Armenia receives comprehensive information about that.
We officially reaffirm the commitment of the Republic of Armenia to the peace agenda, as well as our proposal to Azerbaijan to create mechanisms for mutual arms control and demilitarization of territories adjacent to the border between the two countries.

Announcement: Civilian Infrastructure Sustains Damage Due to Irregular and Untargeted Fire
In addition to the message from the RA Ministry of Defense,
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informs that on the night of April 5-6, civilian infrastructures were damaged as a result of irregular and untargeted fire from the Azerbaijani armed forces aimed at the positions of the RA Armed Forces situated in the northeastern part of the border zone. Specifically, houses and a gravestone were damaged in Movses village of the Tavush region, and a civilian car was damaged in Nerkin Karmiraghbyur village.
The Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are taking legal action, after which the documents will be submitted to the Investigative Committee.

On the night of April 5-6, the units of the Azerbaijani armed forces initiated firing towards Armenian combat positions, utilizing small arms of various calibers. The intensity of the firing varied across several directions of the border.

Specifically, firing occurred towards the combat positions near Sotk (Gegharkunik Province) between 22:25 -22:50, near Verin Shorzha (Gegharkunik Province) at 23:15, near K*t (Gegharkunik Province) at 00:15, near Aravus (Syunik Province) between 23:15-23:20, near Chinari (Tavush Province) between 23:05-23:20, near Movses (Tavush Province) between 00:15-01:20.

It is noteworthy that the majority of the Azerbaijani armed forces' firing during the night was non-targeted and irregular.

The units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia observed significant vehicle movements of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces towards Ishkhanasar between 21:00 and 23:00.

The aforementioned actions by the Azerbaijani side were evidently provocative, aiming to elicit similar counteractions by the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia to substantiate Azerbaijani disinformation in recent times.

Assessing the situation, the units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia refrained from actions that could contribute to further escalation, leading to the calming of the situation along the border.

The Ministry of Defence also reports that the Azerbaijani propaganda apparatus disseminated disinformation yesterday, misrepresenting the routine rotation of Armenian Armed Forces units as front-line concentration.

The relevant unit of the RA Ministry of Defence, which monitors and analyzes open sources, has observed an increase in the dissemination of disinformation by the Azerbaijani press regarding Armenian media in recent days.

Hence, we urge our compatriots to remain vigilant and rely on official news sources. The Ministry of Defence adequately informs and will continue to inform the public about developments along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and contact line.

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan's statement alleging that on April 1, between 10:00 am and 10:10 am, units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia opened fire towards Azerbaijani combat positions in the southwestern part of the border doesn’t correspond to reality.
