Hamad port achieves ro-ro records

Qatar’s Hamad port broke several important records relating to its ro-ro traffic last year.
This included achieving the highest throughput from a single vessel – 3739 units from the car carrier Thermopylae – and an all-time record for monthly operations in December 2024, with the movement of a total of 16,681 units. Over the 12 months of last year, the port handled a total of 130,332 ro-ro units, also a record.

SCCT maintains strong growth levels

In the face of challenging geopolitical and macroeconomic factors, the Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) has achieved a strong set of results for 2024. The terminal, part of the APM Terminals group, handled around 4 million TEU last year, with import and export traffic rising by around 10% compared with 2023, thereby maintaining its position as the biggest container terminal in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Monjasa set to establish LNG bunkering in the UAE

Global marine fuels supplier, Monjasa is introducing the UAE’s first dedicated LNG bunker vessel, the 50000 m3 capacity Green Zeebrugge, in response to increasing demand for alternative marine fuels. Monjasa’s move into LNG bunkering comes at a time when recent DNV data shows that there are now 1262 LNG-fuelled vessels, of which 613 are trading with a further 649 on order, compared to just 62 LNG-fuelled ships in 2015.
