Expo 2020 Dubai has launched ‘Welcome the Future’ – its latest global marketing campaign.

Via compelling cinematic visuals and slam poetry narration the video-based sub-titled campaign encompasses several of humanity’s most notable achievements and urges the world to congregate at Expo 2020 to create a better future.

Capitalising on Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, the campaign amplifies the message ‘We’re not done yet’ in making progress and highlights the fact that everyone on the planet has a contribution to make to a better, progressive and sustainable future.

First batch of new train carriages for Dubai Metro arrive in Dubai from Germany

The first batch of new train carriages that will be pressed into service on Dubai Metro’s new Expo 2020 route as well as on the metro’s existing Red and Green Lines have arrived in Dubai from Bremerhaven port in Germany.

The new trains were manufactured by French train builder Alstom at its train factory in Katowice, Poland.

The trains arrived at Jebel Ali port on November 8, 2018 and were transported by road to the metro depot located in Al Rashidiya.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will take delivery of 50 new train carriages from Alstom – 15 to serve Route 2020 and 35 for the current metro network.

Alstom will supply the RTA with the remaining trains in batches, with the last train expected to arrive in Dubai by the end of October 2019.

Dubai RTA sets new Guinness World Record for the most nationalities in a human chain on Dubai Metro

Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has set a new Guinness World Record for the most nationalities in a human chain on Dubai Metro.

The world record was achieved with a total of 96 nationalities on Thursday, November 1, 2018 as part of the RTA’s 9th Public Transport Day.

Dubai to celebrate 9th Public Transport Day on November 1, 2018

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is all set to celebrate the 9th Public Transport Day (PTD) on Thursday, November 1, 2018.

This year’s event will be marked by a variety of activities in collaboration with Samsung, Global Village, At The Top, Burj Khalifa, Canon, Fly Dubai, Majed Al Futtaim Group (MAF) and Serco (Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram operator). Prizes will be given out to PTD participants.

“Five users of public transport riders (one of them from the people of determination) will be selected as winners of prizes amounting to Dh100,000. Five other public transport riders from RTA employees will be selected as winners of prizes amounting to Dh50,000,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency cm Chairman of the Organising Committee of RTA’s Public Transport Day Events.

“Using public transport means in Dubai during the lead-up of the campaign starting on October 22 and continuing up to November 1 will earn triple the loyalty points of Nol Plus,” Bahrozyan said.

“The PTD event on November 1 will involve the mobility of the largest possible number of multi-national riders comprising the biggest number of nationalities at Etisalat metro station; with the aim of breaking a Guinness World Record. Other events will be held such as catching up with celebrities and stars as a means of encouraging the public to use mass transit means. A lot of prizes will be distributed to participants,” added Bahrozyan.

For the first time, people of determination will have an opportunity to take part in the PTD event.

Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC), has launched a new brand identity following 15 years of operation out of the UAE.

The new brand identity is themed on ‘Modern Nomads’, reflecting the LCC’s aim to connect with the young, adventurous, and those who are eager to travel, discover new places and collect new experiences.

18,000 taxis in Dubai to offer free Wi-Fi

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and du have launched a project to provide free Wi-Fi service in all taxis in Dubai.

An agreement to this effect was signed on the sidelines of Gitex Technology Week 2018 in Dubai.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director General and Chairman of the Board signed on behalf of the RTA, while Mohammed Al Hussaini, Chairman, EITC, signed on behalf of du (L to R below).

du will equip about 18,000 vehicles belonging to the six taxi franchise companies in Dubai with the Wi-Fi service equipment within a year’s time.

“The Wi-Fi service enables taxi riders to browse the internet using smartphones, tablets or other handheld devices,” said Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

Expo 2020 Dubai countdown at Burj Park on October 20, 2018

The two-year countdown to Expo 2020 Dubai will officially begin on Saturday, October 20, 2018 with a public celebration at Burj Park in Downtown Dubai, offering UAE residents a glimpse of what is to come at the biggest event to ever be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region.

A specially choreographed show of The Dubai Fountain and display on the Burj Khalifa façade at 8:20pm will mark the kick-off celebrations. A jam-packed family-oriented activity and entertainment programme will also run from 5-10pm in Burj Park.

Visitors will arrive via the ‘Bridge of Moments’, an illuminated entrance, before being taken on an exciting journey across five fun-filled zones – each representing a part of the Expo 2020 Dubai experience and bringing to life its theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.

Expect contemporary art exhibits, gastronomic wonders from around the world, live music performances, world dance, the opportunity to sign up as an Expo 2020 volunteer and much more.

Expo 2020, the first World Expo to be held in the MEASA region, will run from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021. It is expected to attract 25 million visits, with 70% of visitors projected to come from outside the UAE.
