Meet the Future of Clean Energy: A Floating Platform That Combines Wave, Wind, and Solar Power!
Imagine a compact platform just 38 x 9 meters in size, floating offshore and generating enough renewable energy to power up to 1,000 homes daily! Developed by Swedish company NoviOcean, this innovative platform blends wave, wind, and solar energy into a powerful, consistent energy source with a capacity of up to 1 megawatt.
Here’s how it works:
Solar Panels capture sunlight.
Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs) use wind from any direction, featuring a lower center of gravity—ideal for offshore use.
A wave energy system relies on buoyancy: as waves rise, trapped air creates lift, driving a piston that powers a turbine.
With a capacity factor of 40-70%, these platforms can operate around the clock, even during low wind or cloudy conditions. The setup is easy to install and maintain, offering a sleek, low-impact alternative to large offshore wind farms.
🌍 NoviOcean has tested three prototypes so far and aims for commercial deployment by 2031. While initial costs are high, they hope to bring costs down through scaling, offering peak power during times when traditional renewable sources might fall short.
💡 Could these floating platforms redefine our energy future?
