EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW for the Business FM, Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner.
Part 1.
Business FM: On the challenges facing people because of the pandemic.
Vladimir Pozner: Well, the most obvious challenge is that, for now, we really don't know how to deal with this virus, there is no agreement in terms of sharing the vaccines that already exist, some countries don't acknowledge the vaccines of the others; we are not working as human community as a whole to fight this. I think those are the main challenges.
Business FM: On the possibilities of a return to the old ways of doing things
Vladimir Pozner: I don't really think there was “freedom of movement” in the old way of life. They were rules for everything and there were national frontiers. I do believe that we've progressed enormously over the past 50 years or so, but there still are things like visas and that kind of difficulty. But I think that traveling has become much, much more accessible than it was in the past.
Business FM: On international cooperation.
Vladimir Pozner: I would say the climate change and trying to close the gap between the rich and the poor. I think those are the two most important areas and, of course, trying to get rid of nuclear weapons.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Mazen Ali Al Ansari, director of the Asia, Africa and Australia Media Department in the Ministry of Information in Kuwait.
Part2.
Business FM: How social media influences the media and freedom of speech
Mazen Ali Al Ansari: Very good points. Freedom of speech is necessary. For our creative minds. We need that to be creative. When you sit to create what you intend to say, you shouldn't have to fear reprisals, punishment or paying fines. But on the other hand, freedom of speech is also our responsibility. I can tell you of a few famous social media personalities that I used to follow, and I have completely lost interest in because of the material they have spread, false material. And for social media honesty and credibility are the most important aspects.
Business FM: What digital platforms are used in Kuwait, how to prepare for sudden shutdowns?
Mazen Ali Al Ansari: Yeah, absolutely. As I mentioned, this has the internet and the social media platforms have become part of our lives, everyday lives. I know that the loss of Facebook and Whatsapp, were four for only six hours created havoc. But luckily, there are other platforms. Actually, this was beneficial to other platforms. So, people now know there are other ways they can communicate and connect. But this just shows you how powerful tool the social media is, and how it's getting us more connected than ever before in the history of this world.
Everything is popular, I think the most popular, if I was to guess, I would probably say, both Instagram and Twitter. But also, Snapchat is very close and WhatsApp. But the most used I think, for communication, is WhatsApp for instantaneous messages.
Business FM: About the impact of Facebook malfunctions on public communication.
Mazen Ali Al Ansari: Well, yeah, in all honesty, I used Botim as a communication tool, but you can also call; Instagram was also shut down, I believe, so that was useless, but there is also Signal, I think, it’s a
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Mazen Ali Al Ansari, director of the Asia, Africa and Australia Media Department in the Ministry of Information in Kuwait.
Business FM: Kuwait's participation in the Expo.
Mazen Ali Al Ansari: Thank you for visiting our Pavilion. First and foremost, I'd like to deliver a word of gratitude, which goes out to our brothers and sisters in the United Arab Emirates. For the amazing job they have done and preparing for this important global event. It is truly an achievement to be proud of, the amount of work that went into getting the expo sides ready for this huge event is hard to describe. This includes the planning and building of the necessary infrastructure, the road and rail network, the massive multi lane highways that lead to the expo site and all the other amenities that are intended to make this event as user friendly and as convenient as possible to the participants. So, to your question, Kuwait's participation at Expo is an important one. The UAE is a sisterly country and a member of the GCC, the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
Business FM: How the media will develop in the near future? What are the main themes?
Mazen Ali Al Ansari: The main theme of Expo 2020 Dubai is connecting minds, creating the future. This is a very powerful theme. It is in tune with today's reality. The world has never been more connected than it is today. We are now able to travel to any part of the world within a day or two. With a vast airline network. The Internet then arrived, which has helped us connect instantaneously with the different email brands that are available, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, and others. This, of course, was followed by the rapid spread of the smartphones. They keep getting smarter every year, and the social media tools such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and others. What is what is going to come next? Only time will tell.

Chinese officials are expected to stem the spillover from liquidity issues at Evergrande, the country’s largest property developer, before it slams the banking system and bleeds into foreign financial centers.
But strAtegists also say BeijIng needs to act quickly to restructure Evergrande, because markets are becoming nervous and it is hurting sentiment.
The problems at the property developer could damage China’s economy and from there also dent the world economy.
Investors have worried that Beijing is likely to let the company fail, wounding (вуундинг) stockholders and domestic bondholders. Evergrande faces a debt payment on its offshore bonds on Thursday, after it said last week it was facing unprecedented (анпрЭседэнет) difficulties.
Market pros don’t think that Evergrande could lead to the next financial crisis, but it could lead to more volatility.

Off Plan sales of villas and townhouses – and not apartments – are what’s in demand right now, and Dubai’s developers are rushing to meet that. More villa launches are set to happen as those at Dubai South, where rates are well below Dh1,000 a square foot, and at Dubailand get picked up by investors who are not waiting around any longer in the hope that the market will soften further.
The top areas for off-plan villa/townhouses deals are Arabian Ranches 3 (with 187 units sold in August), followed by Villanova, Majid Al Futtaim’s Tilal al Ghaf, Dubai South and Mohammed bin Rashid City, according to data from Property Finder.
For off-plan apartment sales transactions Dubai had the most sales followed by Mohammed bin Rashid City, Business Bay, Jumeirah Village Circle and Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

As daily deals regularly pass the Dh1 billion mark, Dubai’s real estate market had a strong month in August, with Dh14 billion ensuring this was the best month of the past 12 years. According to the consultancy Property Finder, after eight months, Dubai property sales were at Dh 88 billion, and just need a little push to surpass Dh100 billion this year. Along with the demand for ready or soon-to-be-completed homes, Dubai’s developers are also getting into the off-plan business. One of the most prominent developers is set to announce a skyscraper project in Business Bay soon, and the property’s pre-launch interest has been remarkable.
“The last time the market saw this much money being pumped into off-plan properties was early 2009-10,” said Property Finder in a statement.

More than 11,000 second homeowners in England have flipped their properties to become holiday lets since the start of the Covid pandemic, research shows.
Analysis of government figures by real estate advisers the Altus Group shows the number of holiday homes trading as businesses has jumped by more than 20%.
The group said a rental price "boom" in holiday hotspots had led to the shift.
Restrictions on foreign travel to other countries resulted in a surge in demand for domestic holidays, it added.
Transforming second properties into holiday lets has helped secure additional income for owners during the pandemic, but could also be beneficial for tax reasons, BBC said.

Kuwait starts to recycle more than 42 million old vehicle tires dumped in sands. As the Gulf state tackles a waste problem that created one of the world’s largest tire graveyards.
The massive dump site was a mere 7 km from a residential suburb. Residents were bothered by periodic large fires releasing noxious black smoke.
But this month Kuwait, which wants to build 25,000 new houses on the site, finished moving all the tires to a new location at al-Salmi, near the Saudi border, where recycling efforts have begun.
At a plant run by the EPSCO Global General Trading recycling company, employees sort and shred scrap tires, before pressing the particles into rubbery colored flooring tiles.
The EPSCO plant, which began operations in January 2021, can recycle up to 3 million tires a year, the company said.
Scrap tires are a major environmental problem worldwide due to their bulk and the chemicals they can release.

Dubai along with Miami and Moscow recorded the highest levels of rental growth over the
first half of 2021 as the emirate's property market reached a turning point after six years of
negative rental growth, underscoring the strong rebound of the real estate sector, according
to Savills, a leading global real estate advisor.
The report noted that Dubai rental prices have been on a steady decline over the past years
due to the vast array of developments causing a significant oversupply in the market. Last
year witnessed the worst decline with a 12 per cent drop in rents over the city due to travel
restrictions and resulting economic decline caused by the pandemic.
The picture is not the same across the world. Suburban locations and cities that have been
less impacted by lockdowns have experienced stronger rental growth.
