MY HUSBAND GIFTED ME A HAND-MADE ADVENT CALENDAR WITH TASKS TO PLEASE HIS WHIMS FOR 24 DAYS
On December 1st, my husband Larry surprised me with a hand-made advent calendar. I was shocked—he's never been the romantic type. He handed it to me with a grin, saying, "I made this for you, Mads. Open one each day. You're gonna love it."
I was so excited, but that quickly changed.
I opened Day 1. Inside was a note that said, "Cook Larry's favorite lasagna. Extra cheese, no skimping. Serve with garlic bread."
I thought, "Okay, this is weird, but whatever." I made it, figuring maybe tomorrow's task would be better. But no. Every day, the notes were more absurd than the last. "Foot massage, sorting socks, cleaning garage."
At that point, I realized this wasn't romantic—it was Larry outsourcing his chores. I was furious, but I decided to play along… with a twist for Larry. And the biggest one was planned for Day 24.

MY MIL MOVED IN TO HELP WITH OUR 5-YEAR-OLD – THEN I FOUND HER MAKING A STRANGE SIGN OUT THE WINDOW EVERY NIGHT
When my MIL moved in, I thought it was a great idea. She offered to help with our 5-year-old daughter, Clara, so I could go back to work. My husband, Mark, agreed, and it seemed like a win-win. But things got weird fast.
One night, I caught her digging through Clara's toy chest. She said she was "organizing," but the next day, Clara's favorite stuffed bunny went missing. A few days later, I found it on MIL's dresser. She claimed to take it to "fix a tear." There was no tear. Then she started taking lots of photos of Clara posing in different outfits and sending them to someone. When I asked, she said she was just sharing them with "an old friend".
The creepiest thing? Every night at 9 PM, she'd stand by the living room window and make a weird hand gesture. Mark thought I was overthinking it, but I couldn't shake the feeling something was off.
Then one night, she wasn't at the window. I thought maybe it was over – until I walked past Clara's room. MIL was in there reading her a bedtime story.
And then I heard her say, "Now it's time for that surprise I told you about. Let's get dressed, and remember – Mom doesn't need to know."
