Friday in Dubai always feels like a festival! With so many people from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and a large Muslim community, the day takes on a special significance. For Muslims, Friday is not only a day of prayer but also a weekly Eid—a time to come together, reflect, and recharge. সক্ষমতার অসম্পূর্ণ ব্যবহার: চার কোম্পানির ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জ ১৫,২০৯ কোটি টাকা

বেসরকারি খাতে লাইসেন্স দেয়া বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রগুলোর জন্য সরকারকে ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জ পরিশোধ করতে হয়। আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের প্রথম দুই মেয়াদে এ খাতে ব্যয় অনেক কম ছিল। ২০১৮-১৯ অর্থবছর বিদ্যুৎ খাতে ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জ বাবদ পরিশোধ করতে হয়েছিল আট হাজার ৭২২ কোটি টাকা। অথচ বিদায়ী অর্থবছর এ খাতে ব্যয় বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ২৮ হাজার ৪৯০ কোটি টাকা। অর্থাৎ ছয় বছরের ব্যবধানে ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জ পরিশোধ ব্যয় প্রায় সোয়া তিন গুণ হয়েছে।

সূত্রমতে, ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জে বড় অঙ্কের এ উত্থানের পেছনে রয়েছে বেসরকারি খাতের বড় চারটি বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্র। কয়লাভিত্তিক এসব বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রের জন্য বিদ্যুৎ উন্নয়ন বোর্ডকে (পিডিবি) ২০২৩-২৪ অর্থবছর ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জ পরিশোধ করতে হয়েছে প্রায় ১৫ হাজার ২০৯ কোটি টাকা। অর্থাৎ মোট ক্যাপাসিটি চার্জের ৫৩ শতাংশের বেশিই গেছে বড় চার বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রের পেছনে।
