Ahead of UNESCO’s World Arabic Language Day on 18 December, Emirates highlights the array of Arabic language services available to customers, thousands of Arabic speaking cabin crew, and the wealth and breadth of rich Arabic language content available on its inflight entertainment system – ice.

World Arabic Language Day is celebrated on 18 December since it was established in 2012. Chamber signs MoU to enhance trade and investment cooperation

- The value of non-oil trade between Dubai and Tanzania achieved 9% growth in 2023 to reach a value of AED 9.8 billion in 2023.

Qualifying Public Benefit Entity - Tax Exemption Applications

Qualifying Public Benefit Entities (“QPBE”) qualify from a Corporate Tax exemption under Article 9 of the UAE Corporate Tax Law (Federal Decree Law No. 47 of 2022) (the “UAE Tax Law”).

Article 9(1) of the UAE Tax Law sets out the conditions that need to be met for an entity to be considered a QPBE. These include entities that carry out exclusively “religious, charitable, scientific, artistic, cultural, athletic, educational, healthcare, environmental, humanitarian, animal protection or other similar purposes” and professional entities “operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare or public benefit”. Certain other conditions need to be met in order to obtain QPBE status, including for the relevant entity to be named as a QPBE in a Cabinet Resolution....

Dubai’s production of generates over 1 GWh of energy and reduces about 450 tonnes of CO2 emissions

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that its Green Hydrogen project has produced around 90 tonnes of green hydrogen since it was launched in May 2021. Most of this hydrogen was used to produce more than one gigawatt hour (GWh) of green energy, reducing about 450 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The Green Hydrogen project is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce green hydrogen using solar energy. Implemented in collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy, the project produces about 20 kilogrammes of hydrogen per hour, and its gas tank can store up to 12 hours of hydrogen produced using solar energy. It is used to produce electricity during the night through a hydrogen gas motor with a capacity of approximately 300 kilowatts of electrical energy. The Green Hydrogen project has been designed and built to accommodate future applications and test platforms for various uses of hydrogen, including the air, land and sea transport sectors, and other industries.....

CDA partners with University of Birmingham in Dubai to launch professional development programme for social workers

In alignment with the objectives of Dubai Social Agenda 33 and with the aim of enhancing the quality of social services and improving the well-being of community members, the Community Development Authority (CDA), in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, has launched a training programme to qualify social workers involved with government agencies across the emirate.

The launch event was attended by His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai; Abdulrazaq Ameri, Chief Executive Officer at Irada Center for Rehab and Treatment; and Sheikha Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General, Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. As per the agreement between the CDA and the university, the newly designed training programme is set to offer a series of specialised courses in various aspects of social work. Focused on equipping workers with the latest knowledge and global best practices in the field of social work, the programme aims to develop a skilled workforce capable of providing efficient support and assistance to diverse segments of society.

This initiative will also strengthen the role of government agencies in promoting sustainable development and contribute to the achievement of Dubai Plan 2033 and its agendas....

Emirates will be introducing a third non-stop service between Dubai and Melbourne, starting from 30 March 2025. The third service will be operated with a newly retrofitted four-class Emirates Boeing 777-300ER, equipped with the airline’s award-winning Premium Economy product and latest generation Business class seats.

The airline currently operates two non-stop daily flights between Dubai and Melbourne using four-class Airbus A380s, and a daily flight that connects Dubai to Melbourne via Singapore with a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Emirates’ operations between Singapore and Melbourne will cease on 30 March 2025, and the airline plans to operate the third direct Dubai-Melbourne flight and fourth Dubai-Singapore service with new flight numbers........
