PUBLIC NOTICE:

This Mass Extortion of the Bassa People Must Stop.

1. The attention of HRH and Council has again been drawn to the activities of unpatriotic persons in our Community who have turned the homesickness of our people into a cash cow.

2. Burdened by the plight of our people, especially the poverty occasioned by the displacement caused by the crisis in 2018, HRH and Council resolved to STOP all levies and monetary contributions until our people can find their feet again. This decision was motivated by the love and compassion that we have for our suffering people.

3. To our greatest shock and dismay, some unscrupulous individuals have been disturbing the peace of our people by taxing them and imposing levies supposedly in preparations for the return back to Bassa-Land. Yet Intelligence reports indicate these same persons are working on schemes to frustrate the legitimate efforts of our people to return to our Homeland.

4. HRH and Council would like to make it abundantly clear that we have ordered all collection of monies and levies to STOP!

5. Anyone involved in such collections is acting against the orders of the Palace and Council. Those bent on these collections should know that they are making themselves liable to Criminal Investigation and Prosecution.

6. Loyal citizens are encouraged to warn their families and relatives against scams and schemes by people who see the Bassa people as mere cash machines for wetting their criminal appetites.

7. When the time is right, HRH and Council will issue guidelines for the voluntary issuance of gifts for rebuilding our devastated communities through a transparent and accountable process that will be subjected to regular financial audits.

8. HRH henceforth, urges all sons and daughters of Bassa to pass on this Message of Goodwill to all the nooks and crannies of where the Bassa are presently located in order to enlighten the vulnerable amongst his people.
