As a celebration of the neighborhoods presented in the ‘Spaces That Remain’, we have designed a double-sided tote bag and breeze block key chains inspired by the infrastructure of the space.

Shabiyyat Al-Shorta and Al-Defa’a, built in the late 1970s, both feature on our exclusive STR tote through illustrated maps, while our breeze block keychains borrow from the architectural build and aesthetics of the neighborhood.

Purchase these today on the SWALIF website.

Under the theme ‘After the Rain’ of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale, we are happy to introduce “From the Ground Up”, an evening Suhoor Nights public program designed to spark dialogue around grassroots collective shaping the future of our creative and cultural landscapes.

Panelist will delve into the very foundations of their community-driven practices in the realms of literature, design, art, and curation, within the philosophy of bottom-up initiatives.

This series is a gesture asking practitioners to reconfigure the possibilities of collective creation and to contribute to a future where cultural and creative expressions are as diverse and innovative as the communities that inspire them.

Gaith Abdulla, Ahed, Majed Albanna, Rashed AlMulla, Bint Froot, Shebi Niazi, and Malavika S. all offer their diverse and critical perspectives on this conversation surrounding the forbidden fruits of mischief and scandal.

Through investigating the youth sub-counter-cultures of our precious Gulf, our writers begin to enhance the narrative introduced by the YA3 artists, facilitating a broader dynamic of debate around the subject.

Join us on May 26th - May 29th at the Abu Dhabi cultural Foundation () hosted by for the INAUGURAL Safha Art Book Fair 😆🖼️📖

Our booth this year will be an ARTIST TAKEOVER by Medyyah Altamimi (). Medyyah will be showcasing and selling her first publication “Forever Young” alongside various other memorabilia she has curated and some SWALIF products 💜

Medyyah is an Emirati interdisciplinary artist ruled by a DIY nature to mainly make film, collage, and poetry. She has completed a degree in Art History and Archeology at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi. Her current interests are in the creation of an anthropological perspective of her family, the dematerialization of women in arts, and violently beautiful things.

An experimental debut packaged as a musical album, Forever Young explores a Khaleeji identity that navigates girlhood and its growing pains. From the past to the present, the poetry and prose carve stories that are both foreign and familiar.
