"Broken Connections" story by Ra Ngelic

In the dimly lit bedroom, Mark hovered over Emily, his face contorted in disbelief as he stared at the glowing screen of his cellphone. Emily sat on the edge of the bed, her eyes swollen with tears, her hands trembling in her lap.
"Who is he, Emily?" Mark's voice was barely a whisper, filled with a mixture of anger and hurt.
Emily's heart sank as she met Mark's accusing gaze. How could she explain the messages on her phone, the secret conversations she had tried so hard to hide? She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. How could she tell him the truth, knowing it would shatter their already fragile relationship?
Mark's fingers tightened around the phone, his knuckles turning white. "I trusted you, Emily. I thought we had something real."
Tears spilled down Emily's cheeks as she reached out to touch Mark's arm, desperate to bridge the growing chasm between them. "I'm sorry, Mark. I never meant to hurt you."
But Mark pulled away, his eyes cold and distant. "Sorry isn't enough, Emily. Not this time."
And with those words, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving Emily alone with her regrets and the shattered pieces of their love.
As Emily sat in silence, the weight of her mistakes crushing her spirit, she realized that some connections were meant to be broken, no matter how desperately we try to hold onto them. And in that moment, she knew that she would carry the pain of losing Mark with her forever, a constant reminder of the consequences of her actions.

A DOOOMED VALENTINE

BY LEWIS MAAJA (0715719267)

Now, my dearest nymph, that valentine's
Day draws on apace,
I crave a moment with you;
To merry-make and woo,

But you shall not from your flowery bed stir,
Upon that day, my dear.
Neither will I! No! No! No!,
Neither flowers nor
Cards to be exchanged,
For the virus - covid
Nineteen - has taken residence
In all things (plain and/or fancy),
Making us potential heirs to the grave,
A Valentine doomed, we have,
Relevantly at hand my dear love.

To hell with him who say
"Covid nineteen has no cure or betterment's way",
For prevention is as effective a cure applicable
By simply masking, sanitizing and self isolation, a stable
Health is Achievable. And with vaccines rumored thus,
Our hope stands tip-toe on mountain tops.

Heigh ho! My Darling ho!
Think not me as a love-lacker. Your
Health concerns me to the bone and marrow.
Wisely and slow;
They stumble that run fast. Let's
Teach our trial patience,
For things growing are not ripe until their season,
But from stealthiness we derive reason;
Let's not steal love's bait from fearful hooks,
But welcome our fate the way it looks.

My goddess, my angel, my perfect and divine;
The sun was never so true unto day as you unto me, in
Return I wiil, to you, remain as true as a truest horse,
That yet would never tire. I love you, my dear miss,
Beyond measure and ordinary love's way,
Happy Valentine's day!
