OUR Man Crush for this Monday is Dr Anxious Masuka, Agriculture Minister, academic, researcher, agricultural technocrat and former Chief Executive Officer for at least three agriculture related institutions.
He has continued from where his predecessor and late national hero Chief Air Marshall (Rtd), Perrance Shiri, left in bringing agricultural transformation in the country. What looked like a mammoth task in filling in the big issues of the late liberation war hero and Agriculture Minister, Dr Masuka is sticking to his mandate and dealing with the demands of the expanded Ministry with ease.
As an academic he probably knows that you cannot really invent anything new especially on systems that deliver, Dr Masuka has copied his predecessor in spending more time in the field with farmers than in the airy boardrooms and offices. What he has probably changed is the manner of his dressing. While the late national hero was known for his green worksuit when going in the field, Dr Masuka is making a marketing statement with his branded hat, fisher’s jacket and face mask in mainly his khakhi outfits.
He probably knows the importance of projecting his Government and in particular his Ministry’s brand as it embarks on an agricultural revolution that will be a key determinant of achieving the country’s Vision 2030.
