Chitungwiza Municipality Invites Bids for Lease of Council Properties
In a move aimed at optimizing the use of its assets and generating additional revenue, the Chitungwiza Municipality has announced plans to lease out some of its council-owned properties to interested parties. The municipality is inviting bids from potential lessees for various properties, with a deadline for submissions set for July 5, 2024.
The decision to lease out the properties is in compliance with Section 152 of the Urban Councils Act (Chapter 29:25), which empowers local authorities to manage and dispose of their assets in a manner that benefits the community.
According to a statement released by the municipality, the properties available for lease include a creche and commercial units. The properties are strategically located throughout the town, offering lessees access to key amenities and infrastructure.
Interested parties are encouraged to obtain bid #documents from the municipality's offices, which contain detailed information on the properties available, lease terms, and bidding requirements. The municipality has assured potential lessees that the bidding process will be transparent and fair, with all bids evaluated on their merit.
The lease of council properties is expected to generate significant revenue for the municipality, which will be used to fund development projects and improve service delivery to residents. The move is also seen as a boost to the local economy, as it will create new business opportunities and stimulate growth.
